Newt Gingrich, his wife Callista, and film maker David Bossie have done a documentary film they call "Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny" and this book is part of that project. This is a picture book of Reagan's life and is divided into his life before becoming President, his two terms in office, and his farewell. There is also a section of photos on the making of the film.
Each of the pictures not only has a caption, but a quote from Reagan, someone who knew him, or an apt observation about him. This would be an ideal book to flip through with someone of the younger generations to help them learn and appreciate what a great President Reagan was. I am so glad the selection here includes an emphasis on the close working relationship Reagan had with Pope John Paul II and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the pressure they brought to bear on the USSR. This is a story the Progressives try desperately to not talk about and when forced to, they misrepresent reality tremendously. Those of us who lived through the Cold War need to keep the flame of truth alive.
The pictures are clear and most are in color. Obviously, the early years are in black and white.Read more ›
The most interesting part of the books isn't his presidency or the incredible political feats he accomplished, but rather the insight that Newt and Callista offer in to his childhood and early life in Illinois, as well as his marriage to his wife, Nancy. The book shows us Reagan's family, his acting career and the budding romance between him and Nancy which has come to be immortalized in the American psyche.
Callista Gingrich's photography is tremendous as always, and she offers us real insight in to how they made their documentary by the same title. I can only imagine how moving it must have been to talk about Reagan and his legacy with the very people, both here in the United States and internationally (such as Lech Walesa), who were so integral in helping Reagan accomplish one of his primary goals: the defeat of Russian communism and the liberation of Europe and much of the world.
More than any of their work so far, Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny offers readers a front row seat to the Gipper's life, loves and historical significance. This is a must read for any Reagan enthusiast and a must read for all fans of the couple who continue to offer conservatives what we need more than ever: reminding about the man who built the modern conservative movement and changed history- President Ronald Reagan.

Wonderful pictorial history. America was a better place after Reagan's presidential terms for all people. Leadership with a vision for all to do better produced great results.Published on October 5, 2013 by Whitney Stegall
So, this is a nice little Ronald Reagan book, and then you hit the halfway point. From there, it turns into the cheesiest damned Gingrich advertisement. They are shameless.Published on March 25, 2013 by James
Disappointed since 90% of the book is photographs and not a lot of words. I was hoping for another great book on Ronald Reagan. The book is nice just for the photos.Published on January 20, 2013 by Amazon Customer
