3.0 out of 5 stars an analytical history of McDonald's, June 1, 2008
By
Marshall Fishwick, among other things, taught popular culture at Virginia Tech. (Sadly, I understand he passed away somewhat recently.) I took his class around 1984, in which this book was one of the required texts.

It is a 160-page collection of essays about the history of McDonald's fast food restaurants, and their place in popular culture. There are a number of photographs, and the book is very interesting in general, but it is not for someone with a casual interest in the subject. Much like more common college-level books which analyze art or fiction, this book analyzes (perhaps over-analyzes) Big Macs and the culture which created them.
