5.0 out of 5 stars That's what music is all about
I became a Ronan Keating fan when I heard 'When You Say Nothing At All'. When this album came out I bought it and it is better than what I would have expected. I was prepared to hear more songs like Boyzone. I was very pleased with it and to this day I still enjoy it! I love pop ballads and Ronan proves that he can sing! 3.0 out of 5 stars Debateable
I just got this album the other day and I must say, I was a lil' disappointed with it. I had heard "When You Say Nothing At All" "Life is a Roller Coaster", and "If I don't Tell you Now" and I was expecting the songs to sound more like those. I'm also a huge Boyzone fan. This album includes the 3 songs I mention above, but the other tracks...

I was prepared to hear more songs like Boyzone. I was very pleased with it and to this day I still enjoy it! I love pop ballads and Ronan proves that he can sing! He has the most unique voice and the music in this album suits him. The tracks are all fantastic, if you like ballads and love song, this album is definetly it. Mind you there are a few good up tempo songs, Heal Me, Life Is A Roller Coaster, Keep on Walking and it's a great album to leave on and just sing along. It was definetly worth the money. This is not a dance album, it's just a feel good type of compilation. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Boyband" singers DO grow up too, you know., January 30, 2005
This review is from: Ronan (Audio CD)
It's all to rampant here in America (USA) that young male groups (contemptiously called Boybands) are liked by their young audiences but are not given a chance to mature and are blown-off for rock, hip-hop or other "grown-up" music.
Here you have Ronan, formerly of Boyzone (the UK equivalant to Nsync or The Backstreet Boys, who are more well received in Europe). Don't let "Lovin' Each Day" or "Love Is A Rollercoaster" fool you into thinking that this is just an extention of Boyzone. Those two are about as pop as this gets before it gets into the more mature sound.
I am not too excited about his cover of When You Say Nothing At All, but still it is a quality cover oppposed to some quicky-quicky knock-off on a popular country song. Other favorite songs on this album in addition to Lovin' Each Day are Addicted, When The World Was Mine and Only For You. I really like the Celtic infusion into the When and Only. The Way You Make Me Feel has a very grown-up feel to it all-around.
Overall I am impressed with this album. I was just testing it out for skips since it was scratched. It plays perfectly. I don't think I will be selling this one.

This album is really awesome and he can make catchy, feel good songs without the rest of boyzone to back him up! My fave songs on this CD are lovin each day & life is a rollercoaster, pick this CD up and for those of ya here in the US pick up his single Lovin Each Day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronan, November 14, 2000

I have listened to Ronan's new CD called Ronan and it is very enjoyable. I own everything Boyzone has released and compared to Boyzone it is even better. This album sounds very mature and opens the door for Ronan and a bigger audience. He has gotten away from just the average teenager and his music can be enjoyed by an older audience. I love his voice and the selection of music he has chosen. I hope to hear much more from him in the future. I would buy anything he has to sing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality pop, November 27, 2000
This review is from: Ronan (Audio CD)
Ronan Keating's debute doesn't re-innovate pop music, but it still is a very enjoyable and stylish sample of it. 'Ronan' is much better and consists far more grown-up music than the average Boyzone-album. Of course most of these songs are love songs, but they are not as stroppy and the texts have more contents than you could expect from the singer of a boyband. The major charm of this album is that Keating doesn't copy Boyzone-songs or other styles, or that he doesn't use all the cliché's and the tricks possible to make a pop song. He tries to find his own, adult style, in which he succeeds quite well by combining nice pop music with traditional Irish elements. At that, this album contains two really outstanding songs, "Life is a Rollercoaster", a quite original song at that, plus "When You Say Nothing at All", a beautiful ballad. Also "Heal Me" is very nice. Ronan Keating has also a really nice voice and hey, without wanting to sound pathetic: he's got the looks! :-)

Terrific CD. His complilation of best songs over the last 10 years is even better, but this one is a winner, too.

They're good for backgroud music, but in terms of really getting into it, I found it a tad bit hard.
