5.0 out of 5 stars Ronco knife holder is GREAT!!!
I purchased the Ronco knife set for my fiance for Christmas (we both love to cook) and he has been wanting them for a long time. I got them at a discount store but the knife block was not included. It's a huge knife set so what to do??? I looked on Amazon.com of course and as usual they did NOT let me down. They had the knife block at the lowest price I could find...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ronco Knife Block
Very functional but not the best of quality. But then again, a definite value for the purchase price.

They had the knife block at the lowest price I could find. It is a large block that has slots for all the Ronco knives plus several extra slots for other of your "favorites". It came in a ridiculously short period of time (I think like 2 days after I placed the order). Amazon.com is great. I can't say enough nice things about the company!!!

This item is made of pine, not hardwood. It does it's function of holding the complete set of knifes but looks like it was made as a middle school woodworking project. There are saw marks all over it. This really shows that they are mass produced but if this was Oak or another hardwood it would probably cost $150.

Several of the slots where not designed correctly. I had to go in with a chisel to even the sides out so the knife would fit it. If I would have known the quality of the product I would not have purchased it. I had to fix several slots which the seller did not advise. After fixing the errors it know works. Not a good product to purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Names and numbers surely help, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Ronco KN300100GEN Six Star+ 30-Slot Wooden Knife Block Holder (Kitchen)
I bought this block knife holder over all the others because it has specific holes labeled with names and an assigned number. Each knife belongs in a specific space and it clearly tells you on the block. I have not seen anything like this one-regardles of price. so, number 12 knife belongs only in hole # 12. easy to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk, January 1, 2011
This review is from: Ronco KN300100GEN Six Star+ 30-Slot Wooden Knife Block Holder (Kitchen)
Received as a Christmas gift. It came broken; the glue holding the two major sections together had failed because of warpage in the larger piece. The box says "hardwood" ... looks like basic pine to me, I can scratch it with my thumbnail.
This one's going back. I'll either order a different brand or talk to my local cabinet maker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second one sent is perfect, February 7, 2010

The first knife block sent was mis-manufactured and should have been caught by Quality Control before leaving the factory. I had to send it back but all postage was paid so it cost me nothing but the time and trouble to do it. The second one arrived in perfect condition and I am quite pleased with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Organized, September 28, 2009

The knife block is very well organized and each slot is labeled so it's easy to figure out where each knife goes. The only issue I have with it is that the slots are not as uniform as they could be so, for example, the steak knife handles don't all line up perfectly in a straight line.

Mine had issues that I could fix and live with. The wood was unfinished... raw wood. Left like this, it would be stained on the first spaghetti night. I hit it with a spray can of Varathane semi-gloss, now it looks right and will last much longer. Problem #2: Knife slots were not cleaned out. Nothing a small file didn't fix in a few minutes. So, I ended up spending an extra $10 to make it right. Now I am, not proud, but content to have it in my kitchen. To those wondering, I could not identify the wood. It is not a classic hardwood, not pine either. Poplar?

Also, depending on the knife set you have, you may end up with some odd blanks. The upper left slot is for the OPTIONAL Ronco Rocker Knife, and it is an odd shape. I'll probably end up buying the rocker knife just to fill the slot.

I liked the product. It's psychologically variable in that there is a space for the Ronco Rock-N-Chop however that was not included in the knife set. So it makes you want to have it to complete the set. Comparatively speaking it is right expensive in comparison for what was paid for the whole set of knives, and they are superb. So I am quite happy with the holder. I've never seen the block knife holder shown for sale on the show. Just when ordering, they ask you if you want it too. I might have been so distracted with the knives that I missed it.
