5.0 out of 5 stars a good product
We had ours for 10 years. The plastic parts are easy to clean as the dried dough doesn't stick to this very slippery plastic material. It does have a lot of parts which need to be cleaned after every use. I don't know of any way around this however as any automatic pasta machine must have a lot of parts. 2.0 out of 5 stars Product damage
The product worked as advertised untill it started extruding. It extruded about 2inches of pasta and quit. One of the fan blades on the machine was broken and had sucked into the motor and seized it. Amazon was great about the return and a new one was here within the week. The new machine was defective as well, the exact same problem. I know people who have and love...

5.0 out of 5 stars a good product, April 11, 2011
This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
We had ours for 10 years. The plastic parts are easy to clean as the dried dough doesn't stick to this very slippery plastic material. It does have a lot of parts which need to be cleaned after every use. I don't know of any way around this however as any automatic pasta machine must have a lot of parts. The machine comes apart and reassembles easily in seconds. Buy a couple of stiff bottle brushes (of different sizes) and cleanup becomes pretty easy.

The dough recipe takes some experience to get right as it must not be too dry or too wet. Mistakes are easily fixed as the undesirable dough is simply put back into the machine and reprocessed as many times as you need until it comes out right. With experience, you can add a little water or flour to get the mixture exactly right as the machine mixes the dough. This takes a little practice.

We used to use semolina flour ar first, but now we just use all-purpose flour. The pasta still tastes good.

Do not think that making your own pasta is going to be as simple as opening a store-bought box of dried pasta. The work to make your own however is worth it. It tastes so good for those who are not lazy to take the trouble! If you like to cook, then you are not a lazy person, and will probably enjoy this machine. If you don't enjoy cooking, stay away from all pasta making machines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronco PM1005WHGEN Popeil Automatic Pasta/Sausage Maker (Kitchen), June 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
1. I just made my first pasta in my Ronco Popeil Pasta Maker, it turned out well, the first time I tried, and the pasta is delicious. All, I did was follow the Ronco instructions for making pasta, that came with the machine, and within minutes I had pasta that was exactly mixed as covered in the instructions and it was starting to come out of the machine, after I switched on the EXT buttons, again according to instructions. The machine, quickly went dead, and I thought here we go again, as I remember another reviewer had this same problem. However, in investigating the problem, I found all I had to do was make sure the mixing bin was pushed backed properly against the inside rear wall of the pasta maker, and this immediately solved the problem, as the machine instantly started to extrude pasta again. For my first pasta, I used the Fettuccine disc, and while the pasta was being extruded, I quickly boiled a pot of water to cook it in, using the induction burner I previously purchased from Amazon, and wrote some review comments about. So dinner for me tonight, will be a fresh salad of lettuce/tomato/onion with a spray of olive oil & venegar (using the Misto Sprayers, also previously purchased from Amazon.com), the Ronco pasta I made, along with a home made tomato based sauce with "Gourmet Spinach & Asiago Cheese Chicken Sausage", a glass of Merlot wine; and, for dessert, a dish of pear cobbler, home-made using pears from my own pear tree, a scoop of Vanilla ice cream (I have a lot of it, in the freezer) made in the Cusinart Ice Cream Maker I recently purchased from Amazon & reviewed online here, and some home brewed espresso, brewed in the auto Delonghi Espresso Maker I also purchased from Amazon.com and reviewed here, some time ago. Not bad, for the first pasta I have ever made & that I can quickly and easily make more of, as well as other types, whenever I want. Unlike, what some others have said, cleanup, for me is very fast and easy, as all I did was let the machine somewhat dry (it did so, within minutes at my house), and then I easily picked/brushed off any remaining pieces of dried pasta (threw them out as a treat for the birds, as I do with all my left over bread and dry grains/cereal type foods), and instead of even washing the parts in the dish washer as can be done, within all of five minutes or so, I had washed them by hand in soap/ water in the same pot I had used to boil the water for cooking the pasta.

2. I purchased my Ronco pasta maker from Amazon.com, just days ago after returning to Amazon, a pasta maker of another Brand/Manufacturer that didn't work out for me as I could not even get it to make any pasta at all, no matter what I did, and all according to that manufacturers supplied instructions. With the Ronco Pasta Maker, on the other hand, I had delicious pasta, ready to eat, within minutes, and using general purpose flour I ocassionally purchase in bulk from Sams Club, and so always have plenty of it on hand anyway, as it's the same I use in my Automatic Bread Maker and for general cooking. Thanks, to both Amazon and Ronco, gone are the days when I purchase my pasta from stores again; and, Amazon Prime, was a perfect way for me to purchase my Ronco Pasta Maker.

5.0 out of 5 stars a Great Pasta machine!!!, August 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
I went looking for a new Ronco Pasta Machine on Amazon after previous older model died suddenly after 12 years of service. I remember when my friends all laughed at me when I purchase the first machine from ebay for $30 in 1998. They thought it was ridiculous since pasta is so cheap at the store. The friends quickly came around once they tried my homemade pasta. Some even paid the $154 price! Since I love my pasta machine so much, I am very happy to find the machine is still around and had no hesitation in purchasing from Amazon. The machine still very easy to clean, though dish washer safe, I prefer to hand wash. My friend places her in the dishwasher, though still works great, the plastic looks etched from dishwasher detergents. Handwashing keeps it looking pristine. One update I like is the upgrade to Mix and Extrude from a one switch button to two button switch. As another reviewer stated making homemade pasta is worth the effort, I find it only few minutes more to make homemade pasta opposed using store bought pasta. Afterwards it takes me about 5 minutes to clean, it's that easy!

This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
I have owned this product for well over 15 years and use it regularly, over the years I only had to replace one part that crack for $ 12.00, I love it. This was my first product from his company and I bough many after that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me., May 31, 2011
This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
I bought mine at a thrift shop and it came complete in the box with video and book. I followed instructions on tape and it worked as shown in the tape. Tried 1/2 flour and 1/2 Semolina flour and it tasted too white flour for me. The box has a Kmart price sticker of $154 on it. It looks like new so was probably not used much. The thing is geared down and has a time delay circuit to reverse the motor so if motor stops it's probably your rime delay circuit. You do not want to quickly reverse the motor as if the time delay circuit is out you could do some damage. Also make sure the die is free of material as material blockage could exceed torque to motor and damage it. You need to look at the tape or online version and follow instructions. The online price is about 1/2 of the Retail price at one time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!, February 1, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ronco Pasta Maker (Kitchen)
I owned this Brand of Pasta maker years ago and loved it until it finally quit working. I ordered this one and it just didn't work. I tried 3 separate times to make pasta and the flour came out from the back all over my counter and would turn off. Being familiar with this maker from before I was very disappointed in its quality and returned it promptly.

Amazon was great about the return and a new one was here within the week. The new machine was defective as well, the exact same problem. I know people who have and love this machine, so I think perhaps the seller has defective stock. I can't think of any other reason I would have two machines with the same problem. I do want to note that the fan blade was broken before using the machine, that was the problem. I would get another on of these if I could be sure the fan was in one piece.
