If you want to hear what the original electronica-club sound sounded like, then get this CD. This is truly classic Euro-disco/Euro-club, or should I say "Euro-electro-disco-club" from the early 80s. The most popular track on this album is "The Best Part of Breaking Up" which pushed Roni Griffith, along with producer Bobby Orlando, into the spotlight. The album contains other Euro/club classics such as "Desire," "Take Me Out," "Love Is The Drug," and "Spys." One of my All Time favorite classic euro-dance hits is of course from Roni Griffith and is on this album, the title is "Spys." The thumping, yet hypnotic rhythm and bassline on "Spys" along with other tracks on this album just have to be heard. This album is a history lesson in the underground Euro-club hits from the 80s. Bobby Orlando took the bassline groove from the track "Desire" and pushed it very closely onto a track for The Flirts titled "PASSION." By all means try and find as many classics as you can from " "O" Records." This album gets 5+ stars all the way.

Roni Griffith's 1982 debut album is a Hi-NRG/Eurodisco classic. It contains all the classics like "Love Is A Drug", "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up" and her 1981 smash "Desire". This album was produced by Hi-NRG king Bobby Orlando and was released on his label "O" Records. NOTE TO COLLECTORS : "Desire" is the single version on here (seek the "Best Of O Records Vol 1" for the original 12 Inch). "Voodoo Man" and "Spys" are the original B-Sides to the 12 Inch Single too "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up". My personal favorite on this classic is "Take Me Out", gotta love the Bobby O' bassline and new wave synth sounds, it's soooooo early 80's. Thank you "Hot Productions" for bringing this back to earth.

This is not just another disco album. Originally released in 1983, it contains very tuneful songs embellished by the famous Bobby O's excellent production, as he conjures exciting new sounds out of the synth that still sounds fresh after all these years. Little baroque flourishes in all the right places, while the beautiful Roni's melodious voice fits the songs like a glove. Also, the lyrics are fairly intelligent for a disco release and makes sense in their context. My favorite tracks are the opus magnum (The Best Part Of) Breaking Up, Love Is The Drug (NOT Roxy Music or Grace Jones' version) and That's Rock And Roll, but every single track has something worthwhile.
