A good thriller.,
By Bete Noire (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ronin (Paperback)
While this is a decent thriller keeping the reader interested to the last page, there are a few shortcomings. The first one is the suprficiality of characters-the polarity of Arnie Ross, the good 'thug' and Hiroo Matsushima, the 'bad'aristocrat could have benefited from a deeper psychological portrayal, and this applies to many other characters in the novel-the most interesting and developed one is,surprisingly, that of Willie Lopez, the street samurai. Also, the book could have used more research into Japan and its history and customs, which would have allowed for an even more intriguing and captivating plot.Still, the book is a good page-turner.
