Ronnie Dove was not born in Baltimore,MD but he sure could have ran for Mayor...before that waste of life Shmoke...and won! We in Baltimore City are proud of the legacy that Ronnie has in this city. There are more R.D. stories to go around but as the Baltimore Sun news paper printed way back if my memory serves me right,1963,Ronnie is and will be one of the best new singers of our time! I heard Ronnie himself say a couple of years back that even Elvis told him, "Don't ever change the way you go high at the end of your songs as that will become your trade-mark"...I do believe that the King was right on. Ronnie had a joint here on Rt.40 a few years back called the "DovesNest" and he could still hit those high notes even though in his 60s.
This is one Great collection of hits as some of these songs I never heard Ronnie do before but as always he performe each one as though it was his only hit.The first night we heard Ronnie make it big on the radio with "One Kiss for Old times sake" an aquaintence of mine was stabbed to death on South Broadway and the rest is memeory history!
I always felt Ronnie's music was a little Rock and some Country but not quite "Rock-a-billy". Anyway you listen this 3 CD box set is some Great Stuff and worth every penny,heck you would spend more than that on Pizza and Soda Pop in one night!

I see that the other 3 reviews for this 3-CD set all assign 5 stars and, I suppose, if they are less "collectors" and more of Ronnie Dove fans, that's a fair assessment. The sound is good, the liner notes informative, and they certainly go deep into his vault of hits. But not deep enough.

First of all, the man had 20 charted hit singles from 1964 to 1969, all with Phil Kahl's Diamond Records of New York City (Kahl, in fact, produced most of those hits). But somehow, in spite of turning out 60 tracks, they contrive to leave out two legitimate hits! While inserting their uncharted B-sides!

Mind you, the two missing weren't among his top charters by any means, as Dancin' Out Of My Heart could only get to # 87 Hot 100 late in December 1967 (b/w Back From Baltimore), while In Some Time finished at # 37 Adult Contemporary/# 99 Hot 100 in March 1968 (b/w Livin' For Your Lovin'). But still, they WERE hits and therefore the target of many collectors (like myself). And this IS, after all, titled "For Collectors Only."

In every other respect this is a 5-star edition - but here is one collector who has had it up to the ears with Collectables' approach to compilations. They do this all TOO often, and as a suggestion they should send their producers over to the U.K. to see how they do it at Ace of London (or any of the other British outlets for that matter).

I love this album. I had forgotten how enjoyable those golden oldies were, and what a great voice Ronnie has. The songs bring back so many wonderful memories.

If not for the change in music styles in the 60's, Ronnie Dove, would still be great today. He is a clasic. I wonder where he is today. This is a great collection of Ronnie Dove songs.

Ronnie is still around and making great music. He is active in the Baltimore area.
