5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent July 25, 2002
Format:Audio CD
It seems Rocketown Records has done it again. They are a record label that all other labels strive to be. It seems that with every artist they sign, they up the standard of what artists in the industry should be or at least strive to become. Well, Ronnie Freeman, Rocketown's latest signee, is no exception to the norm on this small label. You see, what makes Mr. Freeman so interesting and intriguing is that Michael W. Smith handpicked Freeman himself as the next artist for the label. They have quicky formed a mentor/protege relationship, and it is extremely evident on this fantastic CD. The album kicks off with some great piano-based pop that is very reminiscent of recent albums by Cindy Morgan and Nichole Nordeman. In fact, Freeman reminds me of a male version of Cindy Morgan. His catchy pop hooks and introspective lyrics shine brightly on tunes like "Could It Be" and "The Only Thing". Freeman gets some songwriting assistance by fellow Rocketown artist, Ginny Owens, on one of the album highlights, "Don't Give Up On Me". Owens even lends her unique vocal stylings to the tune as well, giving it an added bonus. As good as Freeman is on his upbeat tunes, he truly shines on his slower ballads. Freeman has a great range and nice style on the slower tunes. He's voice sounds eerily familiar to Michael English in his heyday and at times, a young Wayne Watson. Tunes like "Satisifed" and "Deeper Still" put Freeman in the same category as such heavy hitting vocalists as Jonathan Pierce or David Phelps. Give him a few years, and Freeman will quickly become a vocal force to be reckonned with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and New... May 23, 2002
By D. K.
Format:Audio CD
Being someone who listens to a lot of Christian music, I must say that Ronnie Freeman's debut album is one of the freshest albums I've heard in a long time. From the first song, his strong vocals grab your attention while his tender and thought provoking words stir your soul. Rarely does an album flow as this one does, from one song to the next, submersing the listener in faith based songs that leaves you wanting more at the end of each.
If you are listener who enjoys an artist whose writing is as spiritually powerful and heart-felt as the voice singing it, then pick Ronnie Freeman's new album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful debut album by talented Christian artist August 23, 2002
Format:Audio CD
I bought this CD at a Ronnie Freeman concert that the church I attend hosted. The concert was awesome, and Ronnie played almost the entire album, so I went ahead and purchased it. I have not been disappointed at all with it.
Overall, the album is pretty mellow, with a lot of piano based songs. Ronnie displays his vocal talents throughout the album, especially on the slower tracks like "Satisfied", "Better than this", "Divine Revelation", and "Come to the River". His supporting band is excellent (especially live) and add depth to the more upbeat songs such as "Faith", "The Only Thing", and "Don't Give Up".
I highly recommend this album to anyone interested in a great, new, young, talented Christian artists. You will not be disappointed. If you like Michael W. Smith, you will also enjoy Ronnie Freeman. Lastly, if you get a chance to see him in concert- do it. His experience as a youth worship leader really comes out when he is on stage.
