5.0 out of 5 stars As advertised...It worked perfectly!
I recently purchased a 2001 Miata with a torn roof. This patch is the way to go and the instruction sheet from Empire Toy was very helpful. Make sure you plan out how you want to apply the patch. It's VERY sticky and bonds instantly. I can't believe I fixed my convertible for so cheap and you can't even see the patch (it's clear/transparent). I even had some patch left...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sticks but not transparent
The patch seems to hold pretty well (2 wks later), but by no means is this material transparent. It went on cloudy and stayed that way on my dark blue convertible top. I ended up taking the patch off the top of the roof and patched only from the interior to be less visible. Ideally the tear should be patched from both inside and outside, but the patch was so prominent...

It's VERY sticky and bonds instantly. I can't believe I fixed my convertible for so cheap and you can't even see the patch (it's clear/transparent). I even had some patch left over! Do not hesitate to buy this product. It will probably fix just about anything you have. It's incredibly sticky and doesn't gum up. Thanks Empire Toy!

4.0 out of 5 stars roof repair, June 10, 2011
This review is from: Roof Repair Convertible Car Soft Top Patch - Tear Aid 6" x 12" Patch A (Misc.)
I used the type A patch repair on my mazda vinly roof and it seemed to work. but then the weather warmed up to 85 degrees and the patch got loose because the glue started to flow. the patch instructions list 2 types of patches, A and B. The directions for B claim "type B has a new adhesive that resists the oils in vinly that cause other adhesives to soften and turn gummy in sunlight." I ordered type B, and it works on vinyl. A does not!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love stuff that works, October 23, 2010

Ordered the Tear Aid about 1 month ago. I thought it was very reasonably priced and arrived in less than a week. Purchased to use it on several tears on a Miata convertible top. Appreciated another review about carefully planning placement since the material is very sticky. I did that, and applied patches to both sides fairly easily. Cutting material with X-acto knife on self-healing mat worked well. Rounded corners by cutting around a coin placed at corners. Burnished patch material down well per instructions - which were simple and easy to understand. So far, patch is staying down well. We've had a little heat and a little rain. The test will be 6 months from now, if it's still holding strong. But assuming it will - great patching material at a reasonable price.

I ended up taking the patch off the top of the roof and patched only from the interior to be less visible. Ideally the tear should be patched from both inside and outside, but the patch was so prominent that I'm electing not to do it that way. I do plan on buying more for patching several holes and tears because of its seemingly good holding ability. It would have been a great buy if it really did go on clear like advertised.

Very cheap for the quantity you get. Instructions are detailed and easy to understand. Installed on a 350z with a nasty tear about 6 inches long near the seam. Once installed it looks a bit like scotch tape. The adhesive is intense, almost ripped the fingerprints off my fingers during install. I have no doubt it will prevent water from getting through the soft top but will be interesting to see if it sticks when I operate the power top since my tear was along the main seam. If you don't care too much that this product will be visible after install, I would highly recommend it to seal a torn soft top .

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the last try, November 10, 2011

I have a good sized hole in my convertible roof top, which is why I bought this product. It stuck and sealed well to my vinyl top, but when I put the top down, the patch split over the hole. Now I only put the patch on one side of the top, and it may perform better if I had patched the other side, but I can't comment on that now. If you have just a tear on your convertible top, this patch will work very well. But remember, you may have to reinforce the patched area if you have an actual hole.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tear repair works, September 20, 2011

This stuff is super sticky, so make sure where you put it is where you want it. Had a 2 1/2 inch cut in the convertable top. The patch was easy to apply. We have had the car to the car wash 4 times since, and we were not "nice" to the repaired area. It shows no sign of coming loose, and hasn't leaked.

Being invisible....now that is a slight stretch, but a new top was about 1700, and it isn't that bad.

Would I recommend it? Highly.

My husband and I have a pop up camper, and it is tens years old and when we got it out this summer to do some camping we noticed that in the upper corners it is starting to give way, so I looked for an item that would hold on vynel and then worked great so far. Great product.

Bought this item to fix a cut on my convertible top. It seems like it's serving the purpose. I have put it under the hood and it seems to hold up even when it's raining. So far I'm happy with my purchase.

I applied to my 2001 Miata convertible top that had a tear in it - enough to hear water drip when it rained hard. Applied product to both sides of the tear and after a month and a half adhesion has been great and I have not seen any discoloration. Installation was fairly simple rub area with alcohol swab then slap on. Good cheap repair!
