Cute characters, fish-out-of-water jokes, hilarious sight gags and puns, and the sweet chemistry between Yoochun and Han Ji-min. - Dramabeans

An 18th-century prince time-travels to modern-day Seoul in the hit Korean TV Drama series ROOFTOP PRINCE! Superstar Park Yu-Chun (Sungkyunkwan Scandal) and popular actress Han Ji-Min (Dae Jang Geum) discover that love can transcend time in this fateful, fish-out-of-water romance connecting two lifetimes.

In Joseon-era Korea, Crown Prince Lee Gak (Park Yu-Chun) wakes up one morning to the devastating news that his beloved wife (Jung Yu-Mi, Thousand Day Promise) has drowned. While investigating her mysterious death, he and his three trusty vassals are suddenly time-warped to present-day Seoul right into the rooftop home of Park Ha (Han Ji-Min)!

Taking the unexpected guests under her wings, Park Ha teaches them about the modern world, and cuts Prince Lee Gak's pompous ego down to size. When Lee Gak runs into his wife's scheming doppelganger, he realizes that the present mirrors the past ... and that Park Ha is inextricably tied to the mystery that brought him to the 21st century.

I enjoyed this drama immensely. At no point did the story slow down! The acting was wonderful (after the first episode, anyway -- the first episode was a little rough around the edges) and the story kept me guessing right up until the end.

Characters:
Yoochun played a very convincing crowned prince! Of course, he's had practice with period dramas -- SKKS, anyone? To be honest, that's why I picked up the drama in the first place. I knew he'd deliver.
I warmed up to Han Ji-Min's portrayal of Park Ha after a couple episodes. When you watch the series, the Park Ha in the first two episodes acts like a completely different person when compared to the Park Ha later on in the series. This isn't just about character growth -- I think there was a bit of a struggle in finding her character during the series. But the end result was not a disappointment!
The villains were great. A little too great. I really hated them! Sometimes I was a little... confused by what their motives were, and it never did balance out -- I guess I just grew used to it.
The side characters were glorious. Scholar Song, Eunuch Doh, and especially Guard Wu. I wished they had more screen time, along with other wishes I won't confess due to their spoilery nature, but I really enjoyed the flavor they added to the drama. Park Ha's neighbors seem to vanish after half the series, though.... I didn't even realize it until now.

Soundtrack: All kdramas seem to have four or five songs they play in every episode, so I'm not commenting on the redundancy of the OST... but I do wish they had introduced one or two new tracks as the series progressed, especially since the series is so long. There were times where a song would start to play and I felt it was out of place with the scene.

I watched this drama online at Dramafever. I initially watched it because of Micky from the Super K-POP Group DBSK/TVXQ but I have to tell you I fell in love with it and couldn't stop watching it. It had everything in it, suspense, love, comedy, and sadness. It was a rollercoaster ride worth watching. As a HUGE fan of K-POP music, I'm excited to see Micky continue in the field of acting. He does it well. The leading lady and the supporting actors/actress were just as good in their role. I wasn't too crazy about the ending but I would watch it again. I'm now watching Micky in "I Miss You" on Dramafever. Believe me folks he's just as good in that ONE.

MICKY OPPA HWAITING!!!

OMG. FIRST time ever in so many dramas I've seen where I WISH the lead actors dated in real life. The love and chemistry between the actors felt so real that I've read many articles and seen many BTS (behind-the-scene) footage for any hint of love after the drama. Three months has pass by and I'm still having withdrawals from missing everyone. The drama itself is the first drama written since the writer's wife had passed six years before filming. Even the letter from Yi Gak is what the writer had wanted to say to his wife.

This is a love comedy drama with lots of suspense and mystery. It's a little bit of everything. You'll be giggling with cute scenes, laughing til your stomach hurts, angry enough to throw a fit, or on edge questioning "WHATS NEXT??". It is not perfect; there are loose plots that needed to be tied up or details that needed further development. However, they had limited time and not enough episodes to film, especially when the lead male actor's father passing away during filming. The ending ties everything together. Well worth it.

The ending is truly touching and memorable, the best possible ending. If you do not understand the ending, please look into it online. It's the meaning "EVEN after 300 years had passed...", not "who" that is important.

This show was a delightful and funny Romantic comedy. The first episode does start a bit slowly but hang in there things get really fun by episode 2. Park Yu-Chun is perfectly cast and so cute to watch and he's three side-kicks (buddies) steal so many scenes with the antics. Many satisfying belly laughs await you if you give this one a try ;-P

I won't say much, but the cast is excellent and the story is great. I saw it before I bought it. After watching I couldn't wait for the release. If you like Mickey, this more mature roll for him will meet your expectations. This is a very novel series. Well written, well acted and produced.

Another one of my favorite S. Korean dramas starring rising drama star (Micky) Park Yuchun of the kpop boy band JYJ, and actress Han Ji-min. A Historical Romance (more like a hysterical romance) that was lots of fun to watch.
