More About the Author

R. Michael Phillips is an author, classically trained artist and avid antique collector. Over the past 25 years he has illustrated children's books, designed and illustrated book jackets, and his artwork has been featured on holiday and consumer products. By combining his creative talents with his passion for art and antiquities, he conceived the fictional world of the East London Adventurers Club. His traditional English cozies follow Ernie Bisquets, a reformed London pickpocket, who joins forces with a rather unusual group of amateur sleuths in contemporary London. Murder, mayhem and villainy are never far from the doorstep of 81 Conduit Street, and the stories have introduced an odd assortment of memorable characters to the literary world.

"Along Came A Fifer" is the first book in the Ernie Bisquets Mystery Series, published by Asylett Press in July 2009. Book 2 in the series, "Rook, Rhyme & Sinker," was released January 2011.

Look for both on-line, ask for it at your local bookshop, or stop by one of the events for a signed copy!

Michael lives in an historic community in southeastern Pennsylvania with his family. He's busy working on the next mystery in the Ernie Bisquets Mystery series, "Quarter Past Death."

R. Michael Phillips Rook, Rhyme & Sinker is the 2nd book in his East London Adventures Club Series, and it is every bit as good as the first. Ernie, Nigel, Lily and Patterson involve us in another mystery, this time centering around a rare chess piece rumored to belong to a set carved centuries ago and very valuable.

Along with the gang and a few others from Along Came A Fifer, Mr. Phillips introduces us to some unique characters, one of which is Ernies's best friend from his boyhood years. The story opens with what is believed to be Simon's death and takes off from there. The more the gang tries to unravel how Simon came into possession of the chess piece, if the piece is indeed part of a missing set, and who will profit most from the sale of the piece, the more twists and turns this story takes. From London's back streets, to train rides, to breaking into a chapel, this book will keep you turning the pages, all leading to a clever and detailed ending. One that is sure to make you think.

I look forward to Mr. Phillips' third book in the series. He knows how to write 'em and keep the reader involved and guessing.

Very excited to have Ernie and crew back for book 2 of the series. I read the first one, but definitely not a prerequisite to enjoy this book. I feel as though I know the characters personally and found myself excited to read the book each night to see what twists and turns awaited. I was not disappointed! Looking forward to book 3 and hope there are more to follow!
