Editorial Reviews

Review

Buying or Selling a Pool Table, by Mose Duane. If you're going to buy a pool table (new or used)--or sell one--you need this book, it's that simple. Why skimp on the price of the book when investing, two, or three, or four thousand dollars (or more)? It wouldn't be a bad idea for someone who already ownes a table to have a copy, as well. In fact, we can recommend that.

The book is very well organized, which makes it easy to use, and there's additional information about buying the accessories that go with your table (chalk, rack, balls, lights, dust cover, etc.)

Bottom line: If you're going to buy or sell a new or used pool table you'd better have this book. --Thomas C. Shaw, Pool & Billiard Magazine

Rarely . . . is buying (or selling for that matter) a pool table a slam-dunk. Ther are important considerations well beyond the grasp of most delettante shoppers. And now there's a superb book, pragmatically titledBuying or Selling a Pool Table, by Mose Duane, that can turn naive shoppers into expert ones. If you are considering a purchase or sale, or know someone who is, this book is about the biggest favor you could do for either of you. It's quite remarkable that no one has approached this subject in this kind of depth before, but Mr. Duane has make up for lost time.

Table-Buying for experts, this slim volume will more than pay for itself. . . . (it)could potentially save hundreds if not thousands . . . --George Fels, Billiards Digest

This book is concise and informative and chock full of hints and pertinent illustrations on buying or selling a table, including a handy pool table ranking. --Jack Baker, Indoor Outdoor Sports

More About the Author

I was born in Indianapolis years ago. I grew up on the east side of Columbus, Indiana and attended Columbus North High.

After three years in the US Army's 101 airborne division jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and working on Huey helicopters, I married, had two daughters, and then attended Indiana University's School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana.

After IU, I opened a 24 table poolroom in Columbus where I played on, sold, and serviced a variety of new, used, and antique pool tables.

In 1982, we moved to Arizona where I remain in the pool table service and repair business, and continue to play.

I now have four billiard related books available on amazon.com with a novel (pool and mayhem) on its way.

On the back cover of this book it says, the book "is an investment: It could save you hundreds of dollars if you are serious about buying or selling a pool table." And this is exactly what it did. I would have wasted a thousand dollars on a worthless table had I not read Mr. Duane's book first. Thank you Sir!

This is the second book I've purchased by Mose Duane. His writting and advice is straight forward and to the point. If you are going to buy or sell a table, you must read this.
The last section even ranks the major table makers. This book will save you a ton of money.
