Please remove from pending list. I order too many books to review each. Additionally, individual's tastes differ and my opinion of a book should have no bearing on anyone elses. If enough people like it, it will make the best seller list.

This book was recommended to me by some friends. It wad a little hard to get used to the written in writing style since it was from the view of a 5yr old. It was like he was experiencing everything on a 5yr delay. I enjoyed the story though.

Emma Donoghue has truly shown us what more than likely are the ways our little ones think. This is such a well written novel I've read it twice in less than a year...something this bibliophile very rarely does. Kudos to you, Ms. Donoghue!

So often, we read a story like this from the perspective of te kidnapped child. This gives such an unusual, haunting look into the world of a kidnap victim. I had to read it in two days and really hated to say good-bye to these characters.

All of the superlatives I can think of are already overused on movies like Ironman 3 and the last installment of Men in Black. This is probably one of the best books I've read since Blindness. She must have been kidnapped in a former life.

I received a Kindle and downloaded this book. I do not normally read, I can't remember the last time I finished a book. I coulnd not stop reading this book. It was a great story and I finished it regretting there was not more to read.

Another book that I delayed reading due to all the hype that preceded its release and after the release. I am glad I waited, but absolutely thrilled that the ladies of one of my book clubs picked this book out to read this year. I didn't read any of the reviews before diving in.

Now onto my review - A heart wrenching tale of a mother who is trying with all her might to protect her son from her kidnapper, but at the same time keeping him from knowing what is in the outside world that he is missing. Esentially she has made a world for him so he doesn't understand that his situation is different from anyone else's "normal." Some may think this weird of her - I find her to be heroic to not expose her son to the reality of the world they are trapped in while making sure that is enjoying their current status.

Without spoiling the ending for those of you who have not had the opportunity to pick this one up - the second half is very different from the first. I am still struggling as to which half I enjoyed more.

Because this book is written from Jack's perspective, the story is much easier to handle. At times I had a difficulty understanding what he was describing because I couldn't always get his 5 year old mind set and language. As I don't have children, I may not react to this book as my mom and sister will, but I think both groups should read and will enjoy this one.

I have just finished this wonderfully well written story. Emma Donohue has entered the mind and language of a child, unusual in the best sense of the word, owing to an unusually loving and creative mother in an unusually awful situation.

This was a good book but it took me a while to get into it.. It is written as if the child is speaking so you really have to focus on understanding what he is saying. I read it in a book club but probably would not have read it otherwise.
