This review is from: Room To Breathe (Audio CD)
I've been an Adelayda fan since they released their first 3 song EP a couple of years ago. Since the EP the band has been totally overhauled, with everybody but the lead singer being shown the door. I'd say it was a change for the better, because "Room to Breathe" is an excellent album.Although I like almost all the tracks on the Album, my favorites are "Not Tonight" and "Down". Both are soulful ballads with heartfelt lyrics and great melody, one about breaking up and the other about moving on. I'm not particularly fond of track 7, "Pick Up". The entire last verse is "na-na-na-na" Like the writer was struggling to come up with lyrics, but at 4:18 it's the second longest track on the disc. He should have quit while he still had something to sing about. Other tracks that warrant praise are numbers 2, 5, 9, and 12. All are quite lively and well worth radio airplay. In fact, if you're anywhere near Birmingham, AL then you've probably heard them on WRAX from time to time. Finally, if you have a chance you should slip over to http://www.adelayda.com and see if the band is playing anywhere near you. I've seen them live, and they put on a great show. The lead singer, Jeff, is very personable and will gladly talk to you about anything and everything. Do try to catch them live if possible, it's money well spent.
