Michael Cole's fifth novel, Room of Dark Secrets, is a story about two ambitious Italian men who come from wildly different walks of life. Although they never meet, they are both searching for a handwritten ancient manuscript on mysticism--each for his own reason.
I was on the computer when my twelve-year old grandson asked if I knew what the word "grimoire" meant. I told him I didn't have a clue. When he googled the word, I discovered the term is used to describe books dealing with the occult.
Upon further research, I discovered that the Vatican has one of the largest collections of grimoires in the world. When I began searching for answers as to why the Catholic Church would bother collecting books on mysticism, I came upon some rather intriguing information.
It was this information that enabled me to concoct a plot for Room of Dark Secrets.
