I think time will favor these recordings of Adams, especially those he did with Rounder Records. "Room With A View..." was my late introduction to Johnny Adams and I was so taken by his vocals that I also got "Walking on A Tightrope" and the Doc Primus tribute...if you are into great soulblues vocalists like Al Green, Aaron Nevell, or Lou Rawls, you will love the late, great Johnny Adams. That I promise you.

If you don't know Johnny Adams, you simply don't know what Soul is, and this is Johnny at his very finest. You simply haven't lived until you've heard his interpretation of the classic "Neither One of Us Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye". This disc is chock full of the finest vocal work you will ever hear. It is truly a masterpiece, and I'm not easily impressed. Also be sure you don't miss Johnny's album entitled "A Man of My Word". Johnny's death this year (1999) left the world a poorer place, but we are blessed with the collection of recordings he left behind for us to appreciate forever.

Soulful Blues,

This is the only album of Johnny Adams I own and it is atypical of most of my collection in that it is vocally orientated. However the silky smooth vocals envoke positive emotions and Adams takes me to places I did not know existed. Blues from the end of the soul scale but an album that has not diluted with the passing of time.

The voice, the style, the selections and the side men are all excellent on this album. Some variety, but no stinkers on this album. From nice rendition of Body and Fender Man to a bluesification of Neither One of Us Wants to Say Goodbye. Collect it!

another great CD from Johnny Adams, who is one of the best soul/blues singers ever. He sounds a bit like Little Milton at times, his voice is that strong. Two great versions of Gladys Knight songs on this CD, and the rest is terrific, too.
