Editorial Reviews

Leslie Stevens may just be the sweetheart of the rodeo. Not your traditional rodeoI mind you & this one's a traveling road show, a disptaced menagerie of vintage country rock, Laurel Canyon folk and haunted gypsy jazz.

'Roomful of Smoke' the new LP from Leslie and The Badgers shuffles and swaggers to the march of a different drum. It's a glittering showcase for Leslie's pitch-perfect, honeyed croon, a lighter-than-air twang that channels Emmylou, Dolly and Neko Case in the same understated breath

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful October 8, 2012
Format:Audio CD
There is no other word to describe this music. Leslie Stevens is an extraordinarily gifted singer-songwriter, and her band the Badgers an extraordinarily talented group of musicians. The songs on this collection cover the full range of human emotions, from joy to sadness. This is their second album, and if you like folk and/or country-rock you will love Leslie and the Badgers. There is a little bit of a jazz twinge that makes the music more than just the regular country. This is a result of Ms. Stevens' jazz training. Her voice is sweet but powerful, reminiscent of Billie Holiday and Joni Mitchell at times, and must be heard. Her range and control are amazing, but her heart and soul make it all memorable. Please listen to the free audio samples ASAP.

Leslie Stevens: main songwriter, lead vocals, guitar
Glenn Oyabe: lead guitar, backing vocals
Charlene Huang: violin
Ben Reddell: bass guitar
Travis Popichak: percussion

Each one of these musicians is amazing in his or her own right, and Ben wrote the hauntingly beautiful "Winter Fugue", included here. If you like classic rock or country and western, you will find much to like, even love, in the music of Leslie Stevens and the Badgers. And after you memorize this album, look for Leslie's first solo album, *The Donkey and the Rose*, which just came out in 2012 and is even more amazing.

First heard this artist on the Mountain Stage radio show on WV Public Radio. I like the music and can listen all day (often do). An interesting variety of music.
