John T. Flynn puts flesh on the skeleton that peeks through the mists of time in works like Jude Wanniski's "The Way The World Works" and other such carefully done analyses of the crash of 1929 and the aftermath.
While history may not repeat itself, but dies trying, these works should be on the desks and night-tables of every member of the elected class. We can see clearly where our new President and his veto-proof Congress could create for us a country far worse off than we were in the 30's. As one who sat at the table of a father who graduated high school in 1931, the depth of the depression, hearing the nightly lecture on bad things were, how important it was to have a job and that FDR was God these revelations come as shocks, but they answer questions I had when in high school because even then much of what we were told did not equate. The death of FDR was one of the two times I ever saw my father cry. The other was the funeral of his first daughter, that powerful was the myth of FDR. That in itself caused me to question it and John Flynn makes a muscular case for the truth of the matter with great implications for today. Nonetheless, this truth is going to be hard to sell as 42% of our people believe the myth and have been taught to hate not only George W. bush and Dick Cheney, but every Republican. In summation, we may well be on the edge of a political "black hole" that we have been digging for 76 years.

No other President in The U.S Did more to undermine and destroy The Constitution Than Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The New Deal violated every Principle of the Free Market System by Empowering the Federal Govt to Regulate and control the Private sector. He Manipulated the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbor Plunging The U.S into an unnecessary war.his Policies handed The Soviets all of Eastern Europe setting the stage for the conquest of China by the Communist and paving the Way for the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
FDR's Image as a Great President as The Champion of the working class as the savior of mankind is a Mass Manipulation of History. This Book rips the Myth of FDR.Excellent Book.Great read.!!!

Roosevelt: A Raw Deal,
By V-ROD "Bookworm" (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Roosevelt Myth (Paperback)
One thing I like about this book is that its copyright was in 1948. Not much time had passed and I believe a more genuine, objective view is given here of this period. The reason for the three stars is because it isn't an interesting read. Details are glossed over; and has many generalizations which may or may not be fact. Also, the author offers very few references and sources.
However, one detail in this book jumped out at me. Having read a number of books on the McCarthy investigations, I wondered when the communist infiltration had started. Lo and behold in this book the author states, "(the New Deal) these bureaus became roosting places for droves of communist termites who utilized their positions as far as they dared to advance the interests of Soviet Russia..."

This was a summer reading assignment for a highschooler. She found it long and dry, but was interested enough that she told me quite a bit about what she had learned and how it affected her view of Roosevelt. Worth the read.
