THIS IS THE BEST CD I HAVE EVER BOUGHT AND BELIEVE ME I'VE BOUGHT ALOT. I FIRST SAW THIS BAND PREFORM ON A BRITISH TV SHOW CALLED TOP OF THE POPS AND WAS BLOWEN AWAY AT HOW GOOD THE LEAD SINGER WAS AT PREFORMING HE MAKE'S THE CONTESTANTS ON CANADIAN AND AMERICAN IDOL LOOK LIKE AMATURES. THE REST OF THE BAND IS EQUALLY TALENTED. I TOOK A CHANE WITH ONLY HEARING THE TRACK "COME GET SOME" (AWESOME SONG) AND WAS HOOKED ON THIS CD IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT GET IT!! I PROMIS YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

This CD is amazing! There hasn't been a CD released at such a caliber and talent in the USA for a long time. I have over 2000 CDs and this one is at the top somewhere. If you want great rock and roll, then this CD is for you. A MUST HAVE!

One of the best rock bands around,

I cannot understand the negative reviews that are coming in for the Rooster boys. Why did you sell your ears on eBay? This album is a fantastic album, that blends rock with a little bit of pop, just enough to make pop music lovers (like myself) fall in love with them.
I waited almost a year for Rooster's album to get a release in NZ, and it was worth the wait. I love nearly every single track on this strong debut. Members Nick (lead vocals) and Luke (guitar) wrote most of the album tracks, and Ben and Dave provide the instruments to back up Nick's strong sexy voice. So, just what are the good tracks on the album? Well, there are many. For instance, "Drag The Sunrise Down" is what I consider to the album's oustanding track. It's saved right till last, and rightly so. It's a rocking good song with crashing guitars from Luke and brilliant shouty vocals from Nick. You can make up your own mind what the song is supposed to be about. Other outstanding tracks include "Angels Calling" (a rock ballad with aaamazing guitar and vocals, such a sad song), "Deep & Meaningless" (another rock ballad style song but with more of a poppy feel then the rest of the album, was the 4th single off the album), "You're So Right For Me" (the 3rd single, more poppy then anything else, with Luke doing a rocking guitar solo in the middle), "To Die For" (another ballad, I reckon this is about as poppy as the album gets, it's beautiful!), "Platinum Blind" (a rocky song about being broke), "Come Get Some" (the debut single, a simple little rock song that got me into Rooster), "Staring At The Sun" (the second single, an underrated rock song with amazing guitar) and "On The Road" (this is definitely the rockiest song on the album, a heavy track about a road trip). With that many brilliant tracks, you have to think that this is a good album. I love every track, and I love the Rooster boys. I can't wait till they do new material! Rock isn't my genre, but I can make an exception for Rooster since they're so good.

Good UK talent is always coming our way!,

Rooster are a truly amazing bang with Nick Atkinson's vocal making the rock 'n' roll type music seem individual in comparison with other UK rock artists like Franz Fredinand and The Killers.
The guitar (Luke Potashnick), bass/backing vocals (Ben Smyth), and drums (Dave Neale) make the music in the songs very powerful, this combines very well with the vocals throughout the album. My personal two favourites are "Come get some," this is quite an upbeat song and also "Deep and meaningless," as the lyrics are very profound. All 12 songs on this album do show alot of character - the way rock should be! I would recommend ths album to anyone that enjoys a good bit of rock 'n' roll. A lot of British bands today have a lot of talent . . . more of my favourites are our long lost Libertines, the Tears and Babyshambles. Enjoy!

Rooster was brilliant. This album made me a fan. Imagine my disappointment upon finding out they are no longer putting out music. Every song on this album is terrific.

I love Rooster's music. This is by far one of the best albums I have. I think Rooster are probably a mixture of rock/indie band/pop/ballad lol. All of the songs are great but my fave is probably deep and meaningless but other faves are come get some and angels calling. Whats not to like about them, they sound and look great. :)

Talented bunch of guys,
By Nikki (Singapore) - See all my reviews

This CD is certainly one of my best buys. These guys are really talented, and all of their songs really showcase this. The style is more balladic than hardcore rock, but nevertheless a really sweet album, really good to listen to as well because the style of the music is so smooth. My one complaint with the CD is that after a while the songs seem to sound a tad repetitive, but it's not a big problem if you don't listen to the CD a whole lot at one go. Still, you can be sure that I'll be first in line for their next album, which will hopefully have a broader spectrum and variety of song styles.

Lots of promise, except...,
By Graeme "Barking Dog Music" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rooster (Audio CD)
All the hype and "rave" reviews aren't exactly wrong, because these guys have some solid rock, good riffs and catchy melodies... all the stuff you want. But I have to warn you that the album is over-engineered, over-recorded (as in extra guitars, etc) and compressed to make it "loud" during the mastering.
Forget the technicalities here, it just means you get this wall of sound with every song that's tiring after a while and does the actual song-writing and musicianship an injustice. Sometimes you think, "Hmmm, there's some drums in there somewhere". Think Matchbox 20 with grunge. This could have been a great album with a producer who had more appreciation of dynamics and putting a little bit of "space" around each instrument. There isn't a nanosecond in any song that they haven't filled with some kind of noise. But these guys will go far, I expect. Good muso's, good song-writing.

This is an excellent cd. 'You're so right for me','Standing in line' and 'Come get some' are the best songs but all the cd is on high quality standards. The price's a little too expensive 'cause is an import cd so try to find it in the 'used&new' category.

Unimpressive. The single has the slight ability to make you want to buy the album. But they are just boyband with guitars and trying to break through the market meant for real musicians. Come Get Some, Standing in Line, are okay songs. The others... well, what I recommend, would be you , downloading their songs instead of spending so much on this cd.
