4.0 out of 5 stars Root Beer...Feel the Fizz
Okay, so remixes tend to be a little repetitive. However, B-sides and Import singles are fun to hear and to get. I Love "Tear Fool", the opening track on the album. "Blame" the 8th track sounds like old Depeche Mode to me, with Jimmy singing in his "full voice"... The last track "Moving On" reminds me of his days with The...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Ecstasy
Jimmy Somerville's Root Beer EP consists of thumping disco mixes of heretofore tight little songs from his excellent Manage the Damage CD (and a few other import only tunes). Recommended for the perfect headache - not the one you'want to get rid of, but the one you're trying to bring on. For those on E or lost in a K-hole.

"Blame" the 8th track sounds like old Depeche Mode to me, with Jimmy singing in his "full voice"... The last track "Moving On" reminds me of his days with The Communards. It's very European, with an I'm oh so sad but optimistic kind of feel. All in all, it was worth the purchase although I'm rarely disappointed by Mr. Somerville...

being a fan of bronski beat i decided to buy this ep. i thought it had some good rare songs and some nice remixes too. if you like upbeat kind of songs and bronski beat. pick up a copy of Root Beer by Jimmy Somerville.

4.0 out of 5 stars unreleased tracks great......remixes ok, March 13, 2002

this cd is somewhat of a mixed blessing. the remixes are ok but nothing great. however it is worth getting because of the previously unreleased "tear fool" and "believe" - excellent examples of what somerville does best : danceable songs with memorable hooks and melodies. i would recommend this cd to any fans of jimmy somerville. for newcomers i would recommend "manage the damage" or "dare to love" instead.

Jimmy Somerville does it again. It's been ten years since the last 5 star review by some kid in Dallas, who hit it right on the head. Ditto his review. It's still great to listen to after all these years. Safe in These Arms. Something to Live For. Dark Sky.Lay Down.Tear Fool,etc..etc all are great all give nod to Taste of Honey.SOS.Rose Royce.Chic. Jimmy sure knows his medium. His record company needs to put out a remix collection.
"12-inchers I Have Done", what? too Risque?
