Book Description

June 8, 1995
This book is both a translation and interpretation of Chapter 8 of the Huangdi Neijing Ling Shu, which described the ancient Chinese view of how the emotions influenced physical health. The heart was the center of a living being and the home of Spirit, and the peace and health of the heart could be compromised by human emotions. Larre's interpretation stresses the communication needed between patient and doctor to design a therapy geared specifically to each patient's authentic nature.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to live from your heart, October 22, 2006
This review is from: Rooted in Spirit (Paperback)
This book I already read several times, when you are TCM practitioner this is something you have to read, the writers wrote several books together but for me this is one of the best.

It is explaining the spiritual energies of Chinese thinking in a very clear way. After reading this you know more about emptiness, and the important place of it in healing. And for me that is one of the basic elements if you want to help other people without hurting yourself.

This review is from: Rooted in Spirit (Paperback)
This book immediately became one of my all-time favorite books. It's a "must" for anyone who works with the healing of emotional trauma and abuse, and who has not experienced some trauma or abuse? Themes of the cascade of heaven, which fosters virtue, and resultant blessings to human life are priceless, also source of spiritual healing and restoration. The authors outline a rich and splendid heritage with implications for personal development and trauma healing that will inspire seekers, healers, teachers, and clergy the world over.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Essential Read, March 17, 2009
This review is from: Rooted in Spirit (Paperback)
This book is often overlooked by students and clinicians, but I consider it an important read. Larre and de la Valle were the first to really analyze medical classics. While I often disagree with their interpretations, their knowledge of everything the Han dynasty texts said is impressive. My only criticism of this book is that their interpretations are often based on western notions of how the classics SHOULD read. I wish more authors were writing books like this-with a mind geared toward classical texts of Chinese medicine and the meanings of the language they used.
