Thoughtful and thought provoking,

This review is from: Rootling: New and Selected Poems (Paperback)
Desire for survival and so much more is what drives us through life. "Rootling" is a collection of poetry from Katie Donovan on the many types of hunger that push us through life looking for that satisfaction. Thoughtful and thought provoking, "Rootling" is a fine volume that shouldn't be overlooked. "News Photograph, Grozny, January 1995": The little dolls are covered/with smears of jam and flour,/their mouths slack,/as though left down/in a gingerbread house,/by children, baking.//Past the muzzy grains/of black and white,/I see/the dolls are children,/covered with smears/of blood and dust,/their mouths slack/with crying,/left down/in a shelled house, by adults,/fighting.
