5.0 out of 5 stars a must read, October 25, 2006

This review is from: The Roots of Jihad (Hardcover)
A fast and compelling read, totally absorbing. Essential for understanding why there is so much violence coming from Islam in today's world. Could have used a better editor to eliminate some repetitions, but even these convey the author's deeply felt concern about his subject, the teachings of Salafi Islam that are responsible for the spread of terrorist violence across the globe.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little book that deserves serious consideration, January 19, 2007
This review is from: The Roots of Jihad (Hardcover)
This is a little book written by a courageous poetic man with a vision. The Roots of Jihad provides unique insight into different aspects of current Islamic militancy. It was written by an "insider" - a Muslim Arab who was personally exposed to that ideology and understands its religious and political underpinnings.
Being a thinker, the author has come up with constructive ideas to confront Jihad - the gist of Islamic supremacist violence.
Unlike numerous other books on this timely subject, this short volume does not just describe and criticize the Jihadist militant ideology but, through a thorough understanding of Islam, it suggests ways to defeat it ideologically.
Just the short "Article 1" (pp. 128-138), which can be read in 10 minutes, makes this book unique and highly valuable, as the author demonstrates here the methodology, based on first hand knowledge of the Qur'an, ways to defeat the scourge of Islamic militancy.
Dr. Hamid is courageous daring to openly expose and criticize the psychological environment and activities of the current second-in-command of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization, with whom he was personally closely associated.
I fully agree with the previous reviewer of this book that it needs careful editing. It seems to have been written in a hurry. This deficiency can be readily corrected in an updated, revised edition, which is evidently called for. I hope this first version of The Roots of Jihad will not be reprinted before a revised edition is published.
Until then, also as it stands, people directly involved in our war against Islamic terrorism will find in this book plenty of useful information and material for thought.
In spite of its editorial deficiencies, this book deserves 5 stars.

Michael Anbar, Ph.D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heroic efforts to awaken America: will it succeed?, June 26, 2007
This review is from: The Roots of Jihad (Hardcover)
Mr. Hamid is one of a handfull of Arab Americans putting forth heroic effort to awaken Americans to the terrible danger they face from Fundentalist Islam. He does the job our leaders should be doing, explaining the terrible truth that the vast majority of Muslims at least passively support terrorists and their goals of the destruction of America and the West and eventually the imposition of world wide Sharia law.
One of most critical explainations he tries desperately to make is that of "Taqyaa", or "Holy Deception". The Koran actually teaches that lying and deception to further the cause of Islam is a required duty of all Muslims. He gives advice as to how to recognize when a Muslim is lying for this purpose and how to pin them down.
He talks about his own genesis from an Arab Muslim living in the Egypt where he joined a terror organization and even met with the second in commond of Al Qaeda. But he noticed he was turning into a hate filled beast.
He speaks passionatley about the need for internal reform for Islam, before it is too late. Will the U.S. be wracked by mega terror attacks, bioweapons, nuclear bombs, already within the U.S.? The answer in large part depends on how well we can overcome the political correctness and media lies that keep us blind and ignorant of the threat.
Thank you, Dr. Hamid!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must read for Every thinking Person, November 8, 2010

Loved this book! It demonstrates that concerns felt about ideology in whose name atrocious acts of evil are committed are perfectly natural and not "racist" expressions.
This book legitimises concerns. Writtten by a highly educated Muslim who is amazed by the Western inertia when it comes to even questioning the most obvious examples of Islamic intolerance, racism and cruelty. These questions will need to be asked and confronted sooner or later. Sooner being preferable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, July 28, 2007

It is refreshing to read a former Muslim write now as a Christian with all hope In The Lord that those whom need to hear his words - will. For Muslim and Christians this is excellent at understanding the terrorism of today threatening this world and especially the western world through the eyes of a former Muslim. For a layman it is understandable but to Muslims, even more so. I also recommend reading "The Final Move Beyond Iraz" by Mike Evans. God Bless these authers. They are very brave men to speak so openly in our behalf.
