Nuff Respect to the Aswad Crew,
By A Customer
This review is from: Roots Revival [ENHANCED CD] (Audio CD)
Aswad returns with an old school Reggae/Ska album that's a classic in progress. Deep bass lines and drums along with their tight vocals and funky brass section. Nuff respect to the Aswad crew. I'd add 2 more stars if they'd let me.

Lovely Old-Skool Reggae, relax & slip it in (so to speak),

For your average white boy 'Aswad' were maybe the most accessible Reggae artiste in England back in the day, aside from the obligatory Bob Marley. Here Aswad has picked an excellent array of songs to cover. Beautifully realized renditions of songs I wasn't particularly familiar with but are now lodged in the reggae recesses of my brain. I would say this is classic old-skool Reggae. With Lyrics you can actually make out & sung with much reverence by the band. My personal favorites here are 'Caution' & 'Take It easy'. Most of the music here is real feel-good stuff. Wonderfully produced. If you find your not a reggae aficionado please don't be put off. I should imagine anyone would enjoy this CD & certainly if you like any of Bob Marley's more accessible popular mainstream stuff then you'll most likely enjoy this as well. Whenever I need a Summer-Fix this is one of the CD's that I pop in the player. Highly recommended. My 2nd favorite Reggae CD behind what else 'Exodus' by Bob Marley.

Track to Track, Best Aswad CD Ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Roots Revival [ENHANCED CD] (Audio CD)
I bought this CD on the strength of the video for "Follow '99" but every track on this CD is excellent. The great thing about reggae is how old school artists like Aswad and Third World can reinvent themselves after 20 years in the business and still sound fresh.
