For little ladies who lunch: A darling duet of plate and teacup that tuck neatly into a box to take along on a play date. Fashioned out of stoneware and ideal for sharing with a best friend. This collection is made of sturdy stoneware, microwave and dishwasher safe.
Play Date is the little girl's version of Ladies Who Lunch, Rosanna's grown-up tea-for-two. Pink and white and unabashedly feminine, the set includes two teacups and two specially curved plates, each of which can hold a sandwich half or several cookies, and features a well to nestle the cup. Play Date plates are decorated with two girls dressed in petticoat-flared skirts circa 1958, and written references to tea parties and cupcakes scroll across the cups.
Just as fun as the pieces themselves is the round, hatbox-style gift box the set comes in. The owner of the set can pack the cups and plates back inside and carry the box by its sturdy cord handle to a friend's house. An instant party-for-two ensues. Made of sturdy stoneware, the teacups can go into a real microwave to warm cocoa or tea (with mom's supervision), and when the party's over, all four pieces slip into the dishwasher for easy cleaning. --Ann Bieri
