4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, for what it is., February 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rosary: Chain of Hope (Meditations on the Mysteries of the Rosary with Twenty Renaissance Paintings) (Paperback)
This book contains a prayer and an approximately page-long reflection on each mystery of the rosary (including the luminous ones), and also a coulour painting for each one. There is also the full text of the apostolic letter "Rosarium Virginis Mariae." The reflections are good, and the Pope's letter is interesting, but I was looking for something with a bit more instruction on the rosary, as I feel there's more for me to learn about it. This is a fine book for someone who is familiar with the rosary, looking for new prayers or meditations, but it's not really the best introduction to the rosary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pray Unceasingly, July 11, 2009
This review is from: The Rosary: Chain of Hope (Meditations on the Mysteries of the Rosary with Twenty Renaissance Paintings) (Paperback)
This is a great book! I love the meditations for each mystery, the prayers for each mystery, the artwork, and the inclusion of the Pope John Paul II's apostolic letter, "Rosarium Virginis Mariae".

In "The Rosary Chain of Hope" Fr. Groeschel offers us a deeper look into the mysteries of the rosary. He explains the history and scripture behind each of the mysteries, and as I pray the rosary now I find myself reflecting on his writings. Praying the mysteries of the rosary takes us through the entire gospel.

In his writing on the first Luminous Mystery, The Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Fr. Groeschel explains: "John's baptism was not the baptism of salvation and redemption, but it was a baptism of repentance and hope............That Jesus should come up and humble Himself to receive John's baptism reveals the extent to which the Messiah was willing to go to obtain salvation for the world".

In the beautiful meditation on the Fifth Luminous Mystery, The Institution of the Holy Eucharist, Fr. Groeschel writes: "Nothing would restore Catholic life more strongly and pointedly than a return to true veneration and custody of the Holy Eucharist and the deeply reverent celebration of Mass."

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to Fr. Groeschel speak at a neighboring parish a few months ago and am totally amazed by this very old, very holy man. I own several of his books and I borrowed this one from our parish library. Looks like I'll need to purchase my own copy soon.

Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for Us.

This is the most amazing book I've ever read. I received one as a gift and have since bought additional books because I keep giving mine to others. Everyone whose read it has the same reaction. It's so well written and gives you a beautiful understanding of the mysteries of the rosary. It makes a perfect gift for a religous teacher or anyone interested in learning more about the rosary.
