The Case Has been Solved!!,
By Mr. Kameron "Kameron" (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rose Experience (Audio CD)
"Murder was the case that they gave me" This album is fire from top to bottom. The single "Lovely" is not getting enough recognition, dudes like myself can def understand this song, we all have seen a pretty woman from time to time and sometimes the only word that comes to mind is lovely. There are def other hits on this album like: "Can I be" and "Betcha Dont Know Y" which really shows Case maturity. This is an album you put on for that special somebody, because at some point in your relationship you will encounter one of these songs (and the meaning behind it).
Other hits include "Smile" where Case suggests to a female that all she needs to do is smile, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to make her smile."Shoulda known better" another hit where Case express that he made a mistake with a female because he did everything right and she didnt appreciate him."Me and you" simply is a song about confusion, Case just doesnt know what to do about his leading lady in his life, We all have had that happen before."Let me down easy" where Case is holding it down but his old lady isnt really feeling him as much and all case wants her to do is let him down easy. Other notable hits: Be that man can't believe Deja Vu Turns me On I can't Place to stay Waiting (interlude) now u know the album is fire when the interlude is fire.... But in all honesty this is a real good album, very smooth and def worth buying. If you are really into your spouse or loved one then you will def make a connection with this album. Glad to have case back, its been a long long time........

I absolutely love Case's sophmore effort "Personal Conversation". Just to hear his uniqe voice again brings back so many (good) memories.
"The Rose Experience" is a great slow-mid tempo R&B CD, with absolutely NO filler material. "Lovely", "Deja Vu", "Let Me Down Easy", "I Can't", "Shoulda Known Better" and "Can I Be" are the standout tracks.

CASE has always been the type of artist who, because of his tats and slightly thuggish demeanor, was classified as a 2nd-string artist, but when you strip him open thru his craft, you find a romantic, heartfelt guy who only want to give his audience what will make them feel good, and because he feels comfortable performing this laid-back soul, it makes him stand out from the masses who have passed him by with their C-level talents. Have been playing this disc ever since I received it and I'm here to tell you, if you are into R&B, then this will not let you down. From the first song to the last, it leaves an impression that here is a man who cares about what he sings, and that, in itself, makes him an A-level performer.

Fire,
This review is from: The Rose Experience (Audio CD)
Fire! Don't know how else to put it. In fact, the album seems to get better & better on its own with every listen. Such a shame real (non-trendy) R&B doesn't get the fanfare & recognition it deserves. Voice, production, lyrics are very nice. He works all tempos equally well. I tend to squirm when singers remake a song. However, I feel his voice, technique & the production are outstanding on the Guy remake "Smile". This album's definitely meant for those of us wanting something with maturity.

3 1/2 stars for "The Rose Experience",

Case had moderate success with songs like "Touch Me, Tease Me", "Faded Pictures" and "Missing You." "Missing You" is even featured on The Nutty Professor II soundtrack. You may also know him because he was once romantically linked to the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul, Mary J. Blige. But, one thing is for sure, it's so good to know that Case kicked his drug habit and can still carry a song as well as he ever did.
I like the title of this album because it's creative, but also because it's befitting for the tone of the LP. The album has a very romantic and relaxed tone; this album is comprised mostly with ballads. Case croons and he sounds good doing it! My gripe with this album is that no song really stands out. They are all decent tracks, but nothing is memorable. Another small issue is the fact that this album was apparently influenced by the 90's. Some songs bring Jodeci, Guy and Faith Evans to mind. Case is begging his female friend to let him stay with her for a little while because he and his girlfriend are at odds in "Place to Stay." The ad-libs are great in this song. "Can I Be" is a romantic little number which has sexual undertones, but it's definitely classy and not trashy. "Be That Man" is one of the few up-tempo finds here. Case is telling a woman that he isn't ready to be monogamous. I like it and I think you will, too. Pop this in if you want to set a relaxing mood for someone special. It's sure to help you end the night the way you want to. Mikeisha's Top 5 1. "Deja Vu" 2. "Be That Man" 3. "Betcha Don't Know Y" 4. "Can I Be" 5. "Lovely"

This album is definitely worth your money. Solid from beginning to end. I am usually scared of albums released independently (especially from an artist that used to be on a major), but this album has proven me wrong. Case sounds just as fresh today as he sounded 10 years ago. Quality R&B music.
