I can't get enough of Vanessa's books - What a story she tells from book one incoporating her characters from book to book. Being a christain I enjoy the way she included scripture verses - she started me back to reading my bible more. In order to enjoy and benefit from her books - I started with her Trinity series, but found out that there was a begining and gone back and read everything she has written since then and before. The first book to start with is the Rose of Jericho and continue until you are waiting for her next printing - which I'm waiting for now. I'm telling everyone about her, espically, my christian sisters. All I have to say, Vanessa keep writing because as long as you writing I will be reading your works - God Bless you!!!

The Rose of Jericho,
By Wendy (Journey's End) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rose of Jericho (Paperback)
I found the book to be kind of wordy, and I am not used to reading a novel written in journal form. Even though I often found my self re-reading some of the journal entries in the book, having to pay such attention to detail, caused me to really read every word written, thus getting a more lasting impression of what I had just read.

An Interesting Read!,
This review is from: The Rose of Jericho (Paperback)
What an interesting read! Vanessa Davis Griggs has written in a unique manner - one that allows the reader to feel as if they are getting the innermost thoughts of each character. Many lessons are shared in The Rose of Jericho. This is a winner!

Compelling, original, thoughtful, impressive, entertaining.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rose of Jericho (Paperback)
The Rose Of Jericho is a compelling novel about relationships and the deep emotional ties that impact everyday life for good or ill. We are introduced to the personal world of Solomon, his lovely wife, her mother the Countess, and friends like Rosalyn (a.k.a. "Honey"), Pearl (a.k.a. "Sister"), and George Landris. Vanessa Griggs offers the readers a cast of characters with real life dialogues and authentic representations of the problems of connecting with family, friends, and intimate relationships compounded in contemporary life with factors that reach across racial, familial, and social barriers. The Rose Of Jericho is engaging, original, thoughtful, impressive, and thoroughly entertaining.

I know no other way to describe "The Rose of Jericho". For too long, I've agonized over the absence of quality, wholesome writing. So much in fact, I hesitate to attend movies, read books or watch television. Why? Because the need for greed seemingly dictates a lessening of common sense and moral obligations. In this age of violence, gore, sex and whatever sells, this book is indeed rare! It touts such principles as love, respect and honor. Thank you, Vanessa Davis Griggs, for...... rain in the desert!

A different approach,

I heard a lot about this book so I thought I would give it a try. It took long time to read, so I can't say it was a quick easy read. It was interesting. I am not sure why it was written in journal form from 5 different people. THey did not really add or take away from what the story was. It just took longer to get to the story, like why was JM and her father so estranged? Who plagurized her story The Moroccan Rose and had it printed in the magazine? Why did she react the way she did when she saw the story? I think it would have been more interesting and easier to read if it were JM's journal I was reading.

The sweet smell of a ROSE,
By Zelda Miles (Adamsville, AL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rose of Jericho (Paperback)
If you haven't added this book to your collection you should. It was a story that anyone of any race, creed or color could tell about someone in their family or own lives. This book gave you something to think about and without being preachy led you to some powerful scriptures. Keep up the good work.

The Rose of Jericho,
This review is from: The Rose of Jericho (Paperback)
The characters in this book all have very different personalities. The main character, J.M. is set on a serious mission to accomplish great things and to make life perfect. Very determined. This book deals with relationships and learning what is important in life. Things aren't always what they seem to be. This is an excellent book with an excellent lesson as well. I will always remember the meaning behind the title of the book. I recommend this one to be put on your 'must read' list.
