5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Page Turner, Leaving You Begging For More
This book has it all. It seems that Kristen Heitzmann's writing becomes more intriguing with each new book. The book has the perfect blend of faith, romance, action, and conflict. I can not wait for her next one. This is the kind of book you want to read in one night but also want to relish every word over again. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kind of slow starting, but interesting.
Of all the places for Miss Carina DiGratia for run to it would be Crystal, Colorado. The pull of the tiny mining town was merely that it was completely out of character and far away from Flavio, Carina's finance. But the trip seems doomed from the start, a seedy sales man sells Carina a bad wheel forcing a trader to send her every possession over the side of a cliff, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved It!, May 7, 2001

I absolutely loved this book! Like some other readers said, it started out kind of slow, but by the 10th chapter things started to get exciting. Thats when all of the romance and suspense began. So I definitely reccommend this book to any woman out there who enjoys a good romance novel and even a little bit of mystery and suspense. And I also want to let those out there who have read this book, know that the sequel has finally come out. Its called, Sweet Boundless, and its the second book in this series. In fact I'm about to purchase it. I'll let all of you know how I liked it. But for those of you who are just picking up this book you must get Sweet Boundless as well. Because this one leaves you hanging and you'll just have to find out what happens. So be sure and order the second book along with this one. Anyway I just really enjoyed this book and if you enjoy heart-thrilling romances I know you will too!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hungry for more!!, December 19, 2003
This review is from: The Rose Legacy (Diamond of the Rockies #1) (Book 1) (Paperback)
WOW!! Heitzmann hit the bullseye! I can't even begin to explain how much I completely enjoyed this book. It's got a simple story that becomes a life or death tale for the heroine, Carina DiGratia. My favorite character in this was Quillan - he's dark, mysterious, handsome(so Heathcliff!), but on the inside, tender and feeling. Anyway, Carina has just left California - her home, and also the home of her fiance, Flavio, whom she had just caught with her sister, Divina. She flees to Crystal, Colorado, a small mining town she has high hopes for, and a place where she hopes to forget her sorrow over Flavio. Anyway, right when she gets to Crystal, she is severely dissappointed - a roguish freighter named Quillan Shepard pushes nearly all of her belongings straight off a cliff, someone takes over her house, and she has no money. Even worse, the goody goody of the town, Berkely Beck, likes her. Mr. Beck you'll discover, is not the kind gentleman that first greets Miss DiGratia, and has his own dark secrets that threaten the town, and Carina. Quillan, however, has a different story. His true self hidden by a dark and forbidden past, he appears to be quite the scoundrel, but later on, he and Carina are to find themselves struggling together to save Crystal. Here are some questions that might be stumbling along in your mind: What is Beck hiding?? Do Quillan and Carina ever fall in love?? Are they able to save Crystal?? READ THE BOOK & FIND OUT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good Reading!, December 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rose Legacy (Diamond of the Rockies #1) (Book 1) (Paperback)
The "Rose Legacy" was a very good book. I truly enjoyed reading this book. I am very picky about the books I read. This is the first time I have read one of Kristens books, and I really enjoyed this one. Kristen captures you with Carina right away, and then the story about Carina and Quilan and how the two characters capture each other is very good, and very interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a book!, October 13, 2000

This review is from: The Rose Legacy (Diamond of the Rockies #1) (Book 1) (Paperback)
I read all of Kristen Heitzmann's debut series (Rocky Mountain Legacy) and enjoyed it a lot. She drew me in amazingly, so when the main character died, it thew me into an emotional tale spin for days. You have to give her credit, though. It takes guts to kill off so many primary characters. The books remain intense and exciting, even though I missed the dead people. However, as gut-wrenching as the first series was, this new one (Diamond of the Rockies) promises to be even better. I LOVED the heroine in 'The Rose Legacy'-- a snappy Italian. The hero has equal parts chivalry and arrogance. I laughed, I cried-it moved me. :) Excellent supporting personalities, without stereotypes. The setting was wonderful-I felt as I were in Colorado, which happens to be my favorite state. I was VERY emotionally involved. The author leaves us dangling at the end, and desparate for the next book. This is a wonderful book! You will NOT regret buying it.

This book is awesome, took a chapter to get into, but once you're hooked you can't stop reading. If you like this book you need to read the next two in the series, they're great too!

I hadn't read Heitzmann before tackling this series, and I've got to say: she's good. The names struck me as a mite corny, but what did I expect from a historical, romance series? Once I got over Quillan, Flavio, etc I thoroughly enjoyed reading the series.
Only buy it if you're ready to put in the time though, cause you won't want to put it down for anything mundane like eating or sleeping:-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Darkness, flight, kindness and suspense intertwine, February 16, 2005

Kristen has begun a new and certainly interesting series set in Colorado. Carina is running from a broken heart and hate for her sister. Instead of the "home" she has purchased, she finds herself in a tiny, canvas stall-type room and working for a dubious person, the only one who seemingly was willing to help. But, he had a motive. A dark one.

Quillan, both hero and scoundrel at times, plays a huge role in Carina's life. He harbors and lives a secret too painful to face. His only real friend is one legged Cain, a truly powerful Christian man whom Quillan would love to call his dad.

Mae and Emie become friends of Carina and she also finds some comfort in the priest and livery hands, but is forced to be near a horrible man she cannot figure out.

This book is set in the historical era many call the rush for silver and gold and lust and debauchery are in their heyday. Carina wonders if she has lost her mind trying to re-establish her life by coming to this small mining town. Some strike it rich while others become paupers, a few remain truthful while a sizable group become rogues and take orders from a ruthless man.

Throughout the entire book, Carina is constantly drawn to the Rose Mine/tunnel, riding there, spending time there, and trying to figure out the mystery this hole contains and why it has such a hold on her. "Wolf" figures to be part of the entire series but so far, not much is known about him.

The author does a great job of leading you straight to book 2. Thanks for a new twist to a Christian, historical, fictional book Kristen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book from Kristen Heitzmann, June 17, 2001

Another page turner from Kristen Heitzmann. I could not put this book down. I can't wait to run out and buy the sequel, since I finished this one last night and I am dying to know what happens next to the characters. I love the romance and supsence that is woven into this story. I hope that the newlyweds get together and that their romance is continued in the next book. I highly recommend this book. Ms. Heitzmann has become my favorite author since reading the Rocky Mountain Legacy series. Loved it!
