One of the best books I've read., March 25, 1998
This review is from: Rose of the Prophet (Paperback)
Since the beginning of time twenty gods have ruled in heaven, each absolute in their own sphere, but also limited by their inability to see beyond their own ideals. One god, however, upsets the balance and mortals are required to set it right. Zohra, Khardan and Matthew - an unlikely group of heroes. Hate and love rage between Zohra and Kardan - and Matthew ultimately binds them with his love for both transcending the problems of a lifetime brought up in bigotry. A spellbinding book, from beginning to end. Adventure, intrigue, romance and comedy combine to create a tapestry of joy and tears. The power and pain of an impossible love and an ability to overcome this and build a true and lasting friendship provides an unlikely hero who proves that sometimes inner demons are more difficult to fight that those without. A MUST for all readers, even if fantasy is not usually your "thing". There are few books I have read, which have so captured my imagination.

Excellent!, December 11, 2001
This review is from: Rose of the Prophet (Paperback)
The Rose of the Prophet.... ahh, now this reminded me so much of my own viewpoint of life. There is a sayne among the desert people this book revolves upon. one asks the other 'what is the reward for liveing well?' 'death' he replies 'and the punishment for living badly?' 'death' he replies again The story starts out with the world as a jewel with many different faccets. In the time before, the jewel reflected evenly the different facets of the truth - as time wore on however the Gods created out of each facet of the truth only focus on their particular aspect, narrowing their minds. This story includes the battles of the heavens, and the facets of truth among the gods schemeing and imortals granted residence on the mortal plane. A more touching story however is a desert tribe of people... two warring factions are suddenly thrown together in a marriage ordered by their god. Hatred born of generations old grudges, brought to flower by shame and self doubt. These two young people find their way in war with the help of a strange forginer who fights his own war of shame benieth a golden crown of red hair.
