Book Description

Weis Fiction October 4, 2006
The world of Sularin is ruled by twenty gods, different in aspect but equal in power. But a war rages in the heavens, one that will affect the gods, the mortals, and the immortal beings who serve them both. It is a tale of romance and magic, blending epic fantasy with Arabian adventure. Khardan, Calif of a horse-riding tribe, and Zhora, princess of a sheep-herding people, must put aside their own differences - with the help of a young spellcaster named Mathew from across the sea - before the fabled Rose of the Prophet blooms.

More About the Author

`Dragonlance' originators Tracy and Laura Hickman have been publishing game designs and stories together for over thirty-two years - nearly as long as their marriage - and thus started them both on a life of adventure and imagination.

Tracy is a NYT Best-Selling co-author (with Margaret Weis) of many Dragonlance novels including the original `Dragonlance Chronicles', `Dragonlance Legends', `Rose of the Prophet" and "Darksword" trilogies as well as the seven-book "Deathgate Cycle".

Tracy and Laura are remembered together for their role-playing game designs in `Dragonlance' and the `Oasis of the White Palm' series but are perhaps best known for their classic adventure, the original `Ravenloft.'

Life now has provided them the opportunity to fulfill a dream: to write novels together. Tracy and Laura work from adjoining offices in their home and answer questions on their work through their website at www.trhickman.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great storyline, February 17, 2007
This review is from: Rose of the Prophet Trilogy (Weis Fiction) (Paperback)
I remember reading this trilogy around the same time I read the Darksword Trilogy and the Death Gate Cycle septology back in the mid 1990's. I'm glad it has been reprinted, unfortunately it is still in paperback and personally I prefer hardcover. Great storyline based partly on Arabian mythology. I recommend those that are frustrated with Weis and Hickman's newer work, to revisit this older story. I give it a 4 because honestly a trilogy should never be bound in one large paperback because they wear very quickly. Would have given 5 stars if it was hardcover.

One of the absolute best trilogy's of all time....but it did need to be in hardcover..because you will read this one over and over again. requires a bit more thought then the D&D books they wrote...but thats what made it nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Rose" is awsome!!, January 12, 2009

This review is from: Rose of the Prophet Trilogy (Weis Fiction) (Paperback)
The Rose of the Prophet is one of the best stories I have ever read, rivaled only by The Deathgate Cycle, Darksword Trilogy, and other of Weis and Hickman's works. The Arabian theme is a bit of a stretch for these masters of fantasy, but it's a nice respite from enchanted forests and elves. The story is rich and colorful, with pleasant curveballs. The ever present religous basis is there but with a slight twist: instead of a clumsy, forgetful character turning out to be a god, this story introduces us to jinn, angels, and 'emreets. My one complaint is the character of brother John. He has such a short and insignificant role before he is beheaded that he should never have been introduced. An incredible and classic adventure with just the perfect amount of comedy and creepiness.
