5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorites!
This book is one of my favorites of the Seven Brides series. Rose refuses to put up with any guff from 7 men who have been living rough lives for years as cattlemen without any woman around to "tame" them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better......
I was really excited to start this book and had planned on reading the entire series after I read all of the stellar reviews. However, I was extremely disappointed once I started reading! The basic story is good, but the writing itself did not appeal to me in the least. The characters tend to ramble on and on without much dialogue for pages upon pages....and then when...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorites!, June 1, 2000
This book is one of my favorites of the Seven Brides series. Rose refuses to put up with any guff from 7 men who have been living rough lives for years as cattlemen without any woman around to "tame" them.

In the beginning, she's so spunky, that when the brothers show up for dinner and refuse to wash after a hard, sweaty, dirty day in the saddle, she up and tips the food-laden table over, to show how much she won't put up with any shenanigans.

I just love this book! I'm so glad that the publisher decided to continue to publish the book and make it available to a new set of readers who missed it before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rose Thornton is the best of all the brides, April 10, 1999
By A Customer
Rose Thornton convinces George Randolph to hire her after losing her job. I really admire Rose for her hard work of the house and the boys. When I first read it I coudn't put it down. I have read it so manny times. I'ts my favorite of the Seven Brides book.Rose is my favorite of all the Seven Brides. I love all of Leigh Greenwood's books. I am reading The Cowboy's books. After I read Sean I'm going to reread all of the Seven Brides books. They are defintly a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful start to this series..., September 19, 2005
Description from the back of the book:

Wanted: A woman to cook, clean, and wash for seven men.

To penniless, friendless Rose Thornton, the advertisement seemed like an answer to her prayers, and the incredibly handsome man who hired her seemed like a dream come true. But when she first set eyes on her hero's ramshackle ranch in the wilds of the Texas brush country and met his utterly impossible brothers, Rose decided even George's earth-shattering kisses weren't compensation enough for the job ahead of her.

Never in her life had she seen a place more in need of a woman's touch, or men more in need of a civilizing influence. The Randolph brothers were a wild bunch-carving and empire out of the rugged land, fighting off rustlers and Mexican bandits-and they weren't about to let any female change their ways...not until George laid down the law and then lost his heart to the beguiling spitfire who'd turned all their lives upside down.

*This book had non-stop action. It was great & I can't wait to read the next 6. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing characters, November 30, 2008
Wow. What an intriguing story. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I liked it. The heroine wasn't the least bit annoying as I've found to be the case in most books by Greenwood. It felt like there was something missing in the hero; I can't even begin to name what it was. But, all in all, I liked the story, loved the characters--especially Hen--found the conflict interesting, and while the ending felt a little forced, I even liked it.

This story contains graphic love scenes.

4.0 out of 5 stars 7 brides for 7 brothers influence, April 21, 2010
I really enjoyed this book and I am glad I finally bought it. I skipped it several times because it made me think it was going to be some imitation remake of my favorite movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. While the beginning of the book did have some very similar scenes ~ like the flipping the table over ~ but the rest of the book stands on its own.
I only gave it 4 stars because if I had one complaint it was that the man vs. self conflict with the hero was very hard for me to rationalize. I just don't see how he saw any of his father in himself. And after the drawn out inner turmoil throughout the entire book, and all of the problems it created for Rose and George it just seemed unnatural how he suddenly got over everything. I really just think there should have been more revelation about the specific things his father did to make them hate him earlier in the book. It would have made the conflict a little more believable.
In the end though I really enjoyed this book and how real everything else seemed. The love story felt natural and like an honest progression not like it all happened overnight. Well worth the time and money. Now I'm off to read Fern.
One last compliant not on this book but the series. Two of the seven books are missing on kindle. Why on Earth would they do that now I'm going to miss Monty and Jeffs story or I'm going to have to "gasp" read an paper book again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good story, March 13, 2010

This was such a good story, with a good hero/heroine. But, what I really liked about this story were the secondary characters, who were George's brothers. They each had distinct personalities that enhanced the story so well.

Rose needs a place to be; George needs a housekeeper. Throw in his 5 brothers on a poor ranch which has not seen the grace and influence of a woman and you wind up with sheer chaos. But, Rose is up to the challenge and meets each one head on, until soon each brother and George know she is a force to be reconned with and all end up admiring and respecting her.

It's a good read; I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bless her beautiful hide!, August 30, 2008
This book intrigued me, because one of my favorite movies is "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." This heroine, Rose, reminds me dearly of Millie, the heroine in the movie. She's spunky, determined to make the most of a bad situation, and genuinely caring.
The hero, George, is ten times better than the hero in the movie. He's a delicious character: handsome, strong, caring, but quite a bit self-conscious. The interactions between Rose, him and his brothers are a treat. I have fallen for all of them.
This is the first book I have read by Mr. Greenwood. I was surprised by his smooth writing style. It is a bit different than some of the other authors that I have read, but I like it. His descriptions flow of the page, and he has a good sense of humor.
I am reading the next in the series, and I am excited to do so!

This review is from: Rose (Seven Brides) (Paperback)
I love all of the books in this Seven Bride's series. I would recommend them to anyone with a passion for western books. Wonderful characters that are easy to like. This is a great author, it is hard to believe these romance books are written by a man! Thank you, Leigh Greenwood.
