About the Author

Gloria West (aka Nancy Beattie) was born in the Scottish Borders but brought up in Birmingham. She was educated at Byng Kenrick Grammar School and Garretts Green Technical College, both in Birmingham. She has been a secretary, a hotel receptionist, civil servant, a YTS instructor, an occasional crowd artiste (or “extra”) on the TV and recently completed a teaching assistant course. Her interests are reading, amateur dramatics, folk music and dancing, theatre and cinema going. She now lives in Shropshire with her partner who is a talented singer and musician.

I was browsing in a local bookstore when I saw an advertisement for a novel written by an author who lives in my town. My curiosity got the better of me. Because it was a historical novel set in the south of England, I decided to buy it. I have to admit there are several printing errors in this novel. But I was able to "brush that aside" because I thoroughly enjoyed the novel with its many twists. It's very apparent that a lot of research has been done by the author.
