With the perplexing choice of color pencils on the market these are a great buy. I invested in the 150 Prismacolor premier color pencils and of course they are of a better quality. But I am not a professional artist. I have discovered the wonder of coloring as a meditation. There are many coloring books for adults that are beautiful and challenging on Amazon and elsewhere online. This set is fine for my purposes. As I study color theory, this set offers a great selection of colors at an unbelievable price. No other company offers such a large set at this price. The Prismacolor set was $132.00 on sale. I am a 60 year old grandmother and first rediscovered the joy of coloring with my granddaughter aged six. Everytime we are together we color. We have a wonderful time and she is learning to let her imagination guide her. Who says there are no pink bananas??? When she is with her "Nana," her world is any color she wants it to be. We color in her choice of books or we draw. Only when I am alone and coloring for myself do I use my "grownup" coloring books. This is wonderful therapy. It clears the mind as the hands take over and creative centers in the brain are accessed. This set is a wonderful gift for a child or adult. Amazon has a huge selection of adult coloring books that sell for $3.99 each. If you order 4, one is free. Four advanced coloring books for $12.00 and free shipping! For a higher quality coloring book look to those published by Pomegranate, also on Amazon. They run about $7.95. But they are well worth the price because of the quality of the paper stock and the fact that the pictures are on one side of the paper only. There are also places online to download coloring pages that are often free. This is a wonderful and relaxing hobby and supplies are easy to take on trips. Plano, also on Amazon, makes a double sided box for $12.00 or $13.00 that is perfect for transporting color pencils, markers, pens and manga pens. This is great way to reconnect with your "inner child" and learn to play again!

I like these colored pencils by Rose Art better than the crayola brand...they color the same but don't break when you sharpen them.

This isn't as bad as I expected them to be. I chose this set for the sheer amount of colors and the price. (NOTE: I got these for about $10 at Christmas, but the $12 is still a fair price.)

I gave them only three stars (instead of four) due to how light these are. They aren't as vivid as say a name brand children's coloring band. The amount of colors almost makes up for this sine you can do some layering.

The pencils are supposed to "pop" out so that you can choose colors easily. A lot of people have complained about theirs not working and I can see why. It didn't come up for almost 3 weeks. My 11 year old finally took the thing apart and was able to put them back so that the container did what it was supposed to. I added a picture to the "customer images" so you can see it.

I had been looking all over for these particular pencils - I have them in my house when my granddaughters come to visit. They loved them so much, I decided to get them for their house. They were greatly surprised. Excellent selection of colors - the girls like to put all the colors in order. I wish I had these when I was a kid.

They don't break easily. They come in awesome colors. They sharpen up nicely. They last my homeschooling family forever. I just bought two more boxes to hide away in the closet because I'm always afraid somebody will discontinue my favorite products. These colored pencils kick Crayola's behind.

While there are 100 different colors here, the variation between some is (as someone else said) barely noticeable. With some of the colors being so close, you actually don't get that much color range. I've yet to find a single purple that is just... purple. The closest I found was one called blueberry.
As for the quality of the actual pencils... the "lead" breaks a lot. A few of the pencils are already almost half gone, after two drawings, due to having to be sharpened to get to the "lead" again after it breaks.
I suppose they might be fine for kids or something, but as someone that was wanting clear cut primary and secondary colors along with all the shades in between, I am rather disappointed with this set.

The quality of these pencils is not at all what I had hoped. They are difficult to sharpen. The wood is "chunky' and just shreds apart in the sharpener. Worst of all the leads of almost all the pencils are broken throughout the pencil. As you color, small lead sections just fall out and you have to sharpen again.

I had purchased a smaller pack of the same brand and loved them. This box of 100 were horrible. They did not color well, it was as if there was grit mixed in with the color. They made a mess of the paper putting little scratches on it. Don't waste your money on this junk.

100 pencils, more like 50 different colors as some were so close in color that they really weren't different.

unlike crayola pencils, the tips didn't break off as much. colors quality not as strong, though as crayola.

felt like i was a kid again with so many choices.

excellent for the price.

These were well worth the price. So many colors to choose. Like a zillion!!! More colors than the eye can capture, some of them are so close, they are almost alike, yet when you need that slight variation, they are great.

So light weight durable and blendable. However, they run out rather quickly. I do detail work and must use a fine point, so, yes, they are much better for blunt broad spectrum work. They are run into stub quickly and need sharpening. One pencil usually only lasts thru two or maybe more sketchings.
