I became addicted to adding roses to my tea when I was visiting a family member who happened to be living in Dubai at the time. Seeing how much I liked it, she took me to a local bazaar where I purchased a 14 ounce package (that's HUGE) for about $5. It was all rose buds, a very light pink and fragrant beyond belief.

Once I ran out, I've looked far and wide for the same product, without having to pay $10/per ounce for it, so I thought I would try this one. I could see from the pictures that it was mostly petals and that its color is too dark but I thought maybe it would work.

Honestly, it doesn't. It is fragrant but not that much. I have to add 2 or 3 times that amount I would with my old roses to get about 1/2 the flavor. When you open the package, it's fragrant. For some reason, that fragrance doesn't translate to the tea. Also, the buds are very far and few in between.

The only thing it has going for it is the price, but if you have to add 3 times the amount, I'm not sure the price is that great either.

In short, I won't be re-ordering these. The search continues. If anyone has any leads, on fragrant rose buds that aren't super expensive, please let me know.

I bought these rose petals for tea and found them to be exactly what I wanted/expected. They smell like rose, just like they should. (I've bought other petals that came with a really weird chemical smell. These are fine.) There are a fair amount of full flowers, not just loose petals. That sometimes makes it sort of annoying to stuff them into a tea strainer since some of the flowers are kinda big (like an inch to an inch-and-a-half across), but it is what it is.

The tea is good and that's all I care about.

I received my rose petals quicker than I had expected. They were packaged securely with no fuss to open. The fragrance from the petals are heavenly. I used them to make distilled rose water. Would purchase again.

I have been searching for good rose tea for a while and I believe I have found GREAT rose tea. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rose buds and petals and stems were few to practically non-existent! They arrived double-bagged in 2 bags (4oz in each bag) and look exactly like the picture. As others may have mentioned, half a pound of roses or any dried flowers is a LOT. To give you an idea, 4oz (a fourth of a pound) of rose petals takes up roughly about the same amount of space in a canister as 3/4 of a pound of coffee. Half a pound should last me at least a couple of months or longer since I plan on mixing it with my favorite loose-leaf herbal tea, Tazo Calm chamomile.
I have tried it by itself and also blended with various teas and it tastes great either way! It's especially fantastic mixed with Tazo Calm Tea (the loose-leaf version). Has a great fragrance but does not have that perfume-y, lipstick taste that some rose-flavored teas have because there isn't any "flavoring" or extracts added. This may be a bad thing if you like a strong rose flavor, but I prefer to just use a lot more of it (like 3 teaspoons per cup!) rather than use something with fake rose flavoring added.
When I make tea using my Teavana PerfecTea Tea Maker, 16oz, I will sometimes add up to 4-5 heaping spoonfuls of these roses because no matter how much you use, it still produces a very subtle, natural flavor!

I took off one star because there is no expiration date (but it looks very nice and tastes fresh) and because it isn't organic.

The pros: The petals and buds were packaged with care and double bagged for freshness. I also got them on time and when I expected them.Everything was assembled well and appeared as untouched as possible.

Cons: The flowers were NOT fragrant and had an almost peppery taste and smell to them. I was unable to use them for what I wanted as they were extremely bitter. I would have preferred a smaller quantity or higher price in exchange for quality, flavor and satisfaction. I was exrememly disappointed with this purchase.

Although the petals had that lovely color that we associate with good quality dried rose, they were completely lacking in fragrance. I am very sensitive (in a good way) to fragrance, so when I say that these didn't have any discernible rose smell, they really didn't. The lavender that I purchased from the same seller was the polar opposite: sweet, fragrant, fresh; as beautiful to the eye as to the nose. So, what happened to the rose? I had to do a bit of "first aide" with a good quality rose scent before arranging them in the centerpiece baskets. :-(

This is hands down the best organic culinary roses on Amazon in my opinion. I have bought from this seller and others, but the roses from this seller are the deepest in color, most fragrant, full of buds, and best in quality in my opinion. The others are rather like bunches of rose smelling, yellow dry tissue paper sawdust. Go for the roses from this seller.
