Ahhhhhhh. Why do I love these books they are so silly, but I do:} This was different in style then most of her others. Most of it taking place in present day England. You get to know the characters a lot before they meet but I enjoyed all of it. These characters are very distantly related to the first McLeod's and DePiget's and it is best to start at the beginning of all these books and just enjoyed the journey, but you could read this all by itself and only be lost a couple of times. This was very clean. There is some kissing but that is it. Some of the cleanest romance books out there without religion.

I'm already a Lynn Kurland fan, so I expected to enjoy the book. However, I was surprised to find out how much I enjoyed the adventure with Derrick Cameron and Samantha Drummond. I finished it in one day, and had that lovely moment of "Wow" at the end of the story. I rated it five stars because of the little plot twists that avoid predictability, plus I really liked these people and their friends.

I'm sure other reviews will highlight the story line (it's time travel folks, so believability is optional). I want to touch briefly on the development and evolution of the main and supporting characters. Samantha was incredibly sheltered, but she is not as fragile as she appears. Her character at first appears to be wimpy, but in actuality she grows to discover that kindness is a part of who she is. She also grows in confidence, which reveals her core of strength, resolve, loyalty, love and compassion. She's feisty and smart.

Derrick is strong, and does not appear to be a "chivalry first" type of man. But he's real, a bit of a jerk at times, and determined not to like Samantha overmuch. Although he comes through in a pinch, he's a genuine modern day hero, susceptible to injury, pain and a need for help. I love his self-talks, they are both insightful and funny. He is adorable.

Of course the expected and surprising connections with characters from other books is always wonderful, but I think what really brought it home for me was the new dimension of sidekicks Oliver, Peter and Rufus. They really got an opportunity to show more of who they are - and they were funny. These are the lads you want to have your back.

Another wonderful read from Ms. Kurland. A truly terrific story and excellent romance. And, as always, loved seeing Ambrose and Hugh, they're always such a treat. Can't wait to see who she writes about next.

I love Lynn Kurland and her books but this one was my least favorite. I had a really hard time getting into the book and it took me almost 2 months to finish. I almost felt forced to keep reading until the end when it got better. I really did not like either of the main characters. The girl was not my type of heroine (naive and under the thumb and control of her parents far too much for a 26 yr old) and the guy was just a big jerk. I didn't want them together or to read about them any longer. Disappointed in this one. Hoping the next one is great.

Lynn Kurland is a phenomenal writer. Her writing is descriptive and has great story lines. It is so refreshing to not to have to deal with language and sex in a book.

This review probably won't really be helpful, because I'm not going into any details, but I wanted the ability to rate the book and we can't "like" books on Amazon like we used to be able to do. Anyway, I really like this book a lot. I didn't care for a couple of the novellas in this series because sometimes some of the details didn't quite fit with the other books but I really think that's because the books weren't written in the order they should actually be read in. Anyway, I really liked this book. There were quite a few times I laughed as I read it. It was just a nice story that continues the extended Macleod/Mackinnon/de Piaget/Cameron clan. I really enjoy this series and almost wish I hadn't already read all of the books, because I want to read more about them. I also liked how Jennifer's grandmother made another appearance in this book too.

I am a long-time fan of Lynn Kurland's books. Unfortunately this book fell short. The plot was shallow and predictable. The characters one dimensional. There were traces of Lynn's style that kept me hopeful this book would rally. It didn't.. Don't waste your money on this one.

I bought this book automatically, assuming I would love it as much as I always love Lynn Kurland's books. Au contraire!! At page 118, I gave it up and decided to just stop reading the book - it was NOT going to get any better. I disliked the spineless boring heroine and could not figure out how the characters had gotten to where they were in the story. It was not well written/edited; it did not make sense and did not interest or intrigue me. I skipped to the end, which was enough to convince me to go back and read the rest of the story, but honestly, it is not worth the time or money invested ($7.19 plus tax). I did not mind the present time stuff, but a lot of the book was just too cutesie. It did not work. I got the feeling the author was being pressured to produce a book and it did not want to come. Better to have left this on the computer and the adoring fans still wanting/needing more until a good book could be produced. I'll be more careful about future Lynn Kirland novels - maybe she has reached saturation point and there are no more great time travel stories to come from her. That would be a huge shame.
