5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Beautiful Album
I was in New York in June 1980 when I got to hear this album from a friend's LP record collections, my first - and accidental! - introduction to this sweet-voiced singer from Greece. I was so captivated by the songs that I practically stole the LP record from its owner!

2.0 out of 5 stars IMHO,not worthy album
I can't say really something bad about this album but I also can't say I was "moved" by any of the songs there as by other albums. It simply bored me.That's all.

I was in New York in June 1980 when I got to hear this album from a friend's LP record collections, my first - and accidental! - introduction to this sweet-voiced singer from Greece. I was so captivated by the songs that I practically stole the LP record from its owner!

Nana Mouskouri's beautiful and soaring soprano is pure, soothing and crystal clear. It jumps right out of the speakers and makes listening an intensely personal and intimate experience.

Her handling of 'Sweet Surrender' is as good and infectious, if not better, than the original version of the late John Denver. Her ability to interprete fast-paced numbers like 'Nickels And Dimes', 'Love Is A Rose', and 'There's A Time' (a re-make of Elvis Presley's 'Wooden Heart') is equalled only by her tasteful ability to handle tender ballads like 'Autumn Leaves' and 'All Over The World'. She is adept in projecting vastly different moods and it shines through in this album.

After listening to many of her subsequent albums, I come to the conclusion that Nana Mouskouri is very much at home doing folk and country type pieces like Bob Dylan's 'Tomorrow Is A Long Time', the folk standard 'Roses Love Sunshine', and 'Down By The Greenwood Side', a sweet and simple tune, though monotonous by its length and repetitiveness. But my favorite cut has to be 'Even Now', a song about a woman recalling and reliving her happy past with her lover and wishing for him to come back into her life.

After all these years, Roses Love Sunshine is still one of my favorite albums ever. One must not miss this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even Now, April 25, 2002

I heard Nana's Even Now over an easy listening radio fm station some years ago and was immediately enchanted with her voice.. I called the local station and got the title and the name of the artist from the DJ playing the music at the time.. Since then - I had forgotten the name of the tune until I ran into it on this album.. I have purchased the album based upon the strength on this one tune alone.. I'm sure I shall find other surprising tunes also on this CD...

Even Now is one of my all time favorite tracks. Touching, captivating the track by itself is worth the price but there are more wonderful suprises. A must have for Nana fans everywhere! I highly recomend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Voice, October 20, 2011

Like many others, I first discovered Nana by chance while flipping through the radio channels looking for songs to listen to. I happened to come across a song so achingly beautiful that I was completely mesmerized by that stunning voice and unique vocal styling. I called the radio station to inquire the details of who this was. The song was called "Even Now" by Nana Mouskouri and that began my love affair with this incredible artist. I bought that recording on cassette and later on CD, and then again as part of her 17-CD English box set. Roses & Sunshine was certified double-platinum in Canada when it was originally released in 1979 and it sounds as good today as it did back then. Timeless voice!

This is an excellent collection of old Nana Mouskouri songs. There are 4 absolutely fantastic songs which are

Roses Love Sunshine
Sweet Surrender (originally by John Denver)
Nickels and Dimes
Even Now

but all the other songs are pretty good too. If you are a fan of Nana Mouskouri, I would highly recommend this album. Buy it soon before it becomes unavailable and you are forced to pay a crazy sum on Ebay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure, vibrant voice, October 15, 2010

My father told me that he heard a beautiful voice on a local easy listening radio station. He didn't know her name- it sounded something like "anonymous." He said the first part of the song was an "Ooh" instead of a word.
One afternoon, while riding in the car, I was listening to the same station. I heard the beginning of the song. Knowing how much my father liked a pure, clear voice, I knew it must be this song. When I got home, I called the station and asked for the name of the performer. The DJ told me, "Nana Mouskouri." I didn't quite understand him, so I asked him to spell it for me.
The song was "Even Now," and it is from this album. It is the best song on the album, but I love every song. She has such a pure, distinctive voice!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally Got It, July 4, 2009

I finally found this on CD; I've had it for years on tape, but was afraid to play it lest the tape break; now I can play as much as I like. It's a great set of songs, most of them not available elsewhere on her anthology records. I think Nana's is one of the finest women's voices of the 20th century, and I think any listener will be delighted by this group of songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roses and Sunshine--Nana Mouskouri, December 22, 2007
This review is from: Roses & Sunshine (Audio CD)
We received the CD in a matter of a few days after the order was placed. The songs I wanted were on this recording. I had searved for years to find the recording. I didn't know who the singer was or the name of the song. I knew a few words and checked those on Google and found the recording. It was wonderful to get the product. It was in excellent condition even though it was used. I play it often. I have used Amazon before and intend to conitinue to do so. Thank you so much. Budd and Nancy Saunders

5.0 out of 5 stars Haunting and Lovely, October 2, 1999

Nana Mouskouri has the most soothing and enchanting sound. I never cease to be bored with her melodic renditions. This is, by far, my favorite. I pull this cd out every autumn, and on a crisp, cool day, I play it over and over. It just adds brilliance to the "Autumn Leaves" outside my window.

This album came out on vinyl 20 to 30 years ago, I don't remember how I first heard it, but I had to have it,I found it on cd just recently, but let me tell you this is a hard cd to find, I got it for my daughter because she had remembered it when she was very young as I danced with her to it.She had been looking for it for a number of years. It still sounds just as beautiful as it always did.An excellant buy, get yours if you can find it!
