From the Author

  • Genre: Inspirational Love Story / Contemporary Romance
  • Theme: Forgiveness, Healing, Learning to Love Again
ROSES IN WINTER is an extraordinary emotional journey of the heart that goes through the stages of heartache toward learning to move forward again. Riley and Savannah have lost so much. Can they overcome the broken past, let go of pride, and learn to love again? It won't be easy. Love is complicated sometimes. Set in Montana near the Glacier National Park Wilderness, readers will meet Riley's stable full of beautiful Spanish Andalusian horses. He trains them to dance to music. Mirabelle leaps so high, it looks like she is flying! Meet Zeus, a black Great Dane utterly loyal to Savannah. Meet Goliath, a giant tabby cat who lives in the barn and normally avoids people, but can't seem to stay away from Savannah. Animals love her. It is her gift.
  • Savannah is gifted. She is a musical prodigy with a photographic memory. She also has a special bond with animals. They love and trust her, as if they can sense her kind and loving heart.

From the Back Cover

Riley Rosemont loved Savannah Graystone from the moment she was born. All his life, there were two thing Riley felt sure of: that Savannah owned his heart and that he belonged in Montana. Life in the icy northern mountains is hard. But her love made him strong. Riley always swore that someday he'd marry that beautiful woman. They'd grow old together. They'd have a family. It was their destiny.
But God had other plans for Savannah.
God blessed her with a gift for music. Angel songs, she called them: pure musical inspiration that flows from her heart to the piano keys. Driven to share that music with the world, Savannah changes her name and runs away to New York City where she becomes a star. But Savannah stole something very precious from Riley and kept it a secret. She was pregnant with their unborn son.
Seven years late, on a quiet road in upstate New York, Savannah and six-year-old Ryan are involved in a devastating car accident. In two precious minutes she loses everything. She holds her son's hand while he dies. Ryan's last thought was of Riley. Broken in body and spirit, Savannah exists in a haze of denial and pain. Barely able to move, hardly capable of rational thought, one icy winter day Savannah finds herself back in Montana. Snow is falling fast, bitter and cold from the upcoming October storm. Her hand is on the door to Graystone Heights, her childhood home. The giant ski lodge has been deserted for years.
But behind her a dog growls. She isn't alone...
Graystone is Riley's home now and he hates her for leaving. But he hates Savannah even more for stealing away his son. Ryan wasn't a secret, after all. Riley knew the truth. He loved Ryan with all his broken heart.
They need a miracle.

This is truly a beautiful story; one of the best that I have read. I fell in love with Riley and Savannah. I loved the horses and Zeus, who made me smile and laugh. But most of all, I fell in love with little Ryan and I cried along with Riley and Savannah through their memories of his too short life. A note to the author: Thank you, Leslie, for reminding us through this story that this life is truly "but a twinkle" in time, that 'forever' really isn't long enough when we love deeply and to cherish every moment of the 'now.' I look forward to reading more of your books!

Arianna Hartwell has a secret from the world. Her real name is Savannah Greystone and she's from a small town in Montana. To the world, she's a superstar, but to Riley Rosemont, she's his "Savage".

After a terrible accident that nearly kills her, Savannah returns to Montana to find that Riley is living in her family home. He's not happy to see her.
Savannah's body and soul need to heal. She's come wanting to die, but needing to find redemption. Her shattered heart still holds four words to be true, "Forever Isn't Long Enough." Riley's hot and cold attitude alternately helps and hinders her recovery.

Riley Rosemont is a Montana Man--quiet, unassuming, stoic. His love for Savannah can overcome anything, except the fact she left him, pregnant with his son, to go to NYC for fame and fortune. He's a man who holds his anger and frustration in, occasionally lashing out at the woman he still loves. Deeply hurt by Savannah's desertion, he finds it hard to put aside these baser feelings and open his heart to love.

Forced into seclusion by an early season blizzard, the time has come for both of them to put the past behind them and move on. Relying on one another seems the only way to do that.

"Roses in Winter is a beautifully crafted, well paced novel of love, loss and rebirth. The characters are wonderfully depicted, true to their nature and three dimensional. Leslie weaves a story that makes the reader laugh, cry and want to yell (at Riley) sometimes simultaneously. I highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys a good laugh, a great cry and a wonderful love story.

This book was one of the best books I have read this year. the story of Savannah and Riley was so touching and endearing. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Never before have I read anything that touched many emotions. I felt like I was watching a movie. The more I read, the more I felt their pain and their love. The story flowed well and as your read along, it felt so realistic. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story of emotions, good and sad.

This book was absolutely wonderful. Leslie's words flowed effortlessly from page to page!

With Montana in the winter as the backdrop (one of my favorite places in the world) and characters that are so real you feel like you know what they will say before the words appear on the pages, I found myself drawn into their heartache.

And rooting for their love to conquer all.

Leslie crafted a beautiful love story that readers will truly enjoy!

First off it's an inspirational romance, which really irks me when I don't figure that out before I buy it. I could have rolled with that if not for the nauseatingly excessive use of exclamation points in this book. On one page I counted 9 of them. If you can't express emotion without them, then your writing needs work. The author's writing style is overly flowery to the point that I began to skim to get through it. Too many strikes for me enjoy this one.

With the glowing reviews, I expected to like this book. I am on page 91 and I'm trying to push through to the end. I have read many, many books in my years and this book, so far, is boring! I will read the rest of the book and if it gets better will change my review accordingly. I have nothing against inspirational novels. I find most to be uplifting stories. So far this book is filled with heartache and despair, with no redeeming qualities. I will not write a synopsis of this book since that has already been done and I do not want to add anything that will be considered a "spoiler".

I will not take issue with the formatting of this book, as I have repurchased some of my favorite books (some NY Times best sellers) and found that the transposition to Kindle has caused spelling errors, formatting errors, etc. I do not rate my reviews on these issues. But readers be aware that there are some slight formatting issues.

I love it when I "discover" a new author because I have a habit of reading everything by the same 2 dozen favorite authors. I now have another favorite! I love the writing style of Ms. Stuart, I felt I was there in the beauty of Montana. Riley and Savannah are now new friends to me. I hope I get to see them or their beautiful children in a future story and I look forward to the next creation by this outstanding new author!

The death of her son, God I was in tears :( There is also some parts that will have you laughind :D This is a wonderful love story. I don't blame him for being upset about her leaving him while she was pregnant with their son, but at some points in the story I want to smack him -.- Wonderful characters, great love story, a must read. :D
