I am very pleased with this product so far. I like the fact that even though I am finished with a section it can review it as many times as I like to reenforce the lessons.

Buggiest Software I've Ever Used, and Crummy Tech Support,

Let me start by saying I'm a senior software architect at a major computer company, so I know my way around software.
I bought level 1 German a year ago, and have had to reinstall it twice due to a failed database error. Then there was the time it tried up upgrade itself to the latest version and instead it completely uninstalled the app. I reinstalled from CD, but then couldn't activate the program because it had uninstalled without deactivating. After fighting with tech support for days they eventually gave me another seat so I was able to successfully activate. I used the program twice more before the database once again became corrupt. So after a year of using this sorry excuse for software it looks like I'm back to having to reinstall yet again. I've never been past Unit 2, but I'm getting really, really good at Unit 1! I'm going to Germany this fall, and wanted to have at least a basic grasp on the language, but unfortunately Rosetta Stone isn't the path that's going to get me there. I highly recommend you look elsewhere, too. For what it's worth, I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit (service pack 2) with 4GB RAM and an AMD Phenom processor (2.6 GHz).

It took 4 phone calls to outsourcing ,I believe, India to get item fixed so it would not freeze my PC. Could not understand their English until I finally got a supervisor who got problem fixed by taking over my PC

German Rosetta Stone is an excellent way to study German. To me German is very difficult to learn. With Rosetta Stone, I can go back and repeat the learning as I move down the learning curve.

half-assed,
This review is from: Rosetta Stone V3: German Level 1 with Audio Companion [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
ok, I get that the format is all pictures and only in German. still, the way articles and how various words conform to gender is completely unexplained and arbitrary. and a lot of the exercises are mindlessly repetitive, you go back over the same thing 20 times, and it just isn't necessary. very annoying.

Could not get the disks to work because they were full of glue from the packaging. The glue probably melted onto the disk in our 100 degree weather.
