5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Start, as Always
I think Rosetta Stone is an excellent product, I have used the French and Russian and I find their method infinitely better than trying to memorize Russian words next to their meaning in your native tongue. I always thought I just couldn't learn languages but then I realized that the way I was attempting to learn was at fault and Rosetta Stone offers a great and logical...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for vocabulary
Rosetta Stone is a good product for building vocabulary and even helping with pronunciation, but you won't get fluency from it. I don't think it's worth the price honestly. If you can get it for free, or if you have the money to spend on it, then it's a nice tool to add to your arsenal. But I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this product because it's just not enough by...

This review is from: Rosetta Stone V3: Russian, Level 1, 2 & 3 (CD-ROM)
I think Rosetta Stone is an excellent product, I have used the French and Russian and I find their method infinitely better than trying to memorize Russian words next to their meaning in your native tongue. I always thought I just couldn't learn languages but then I realized that the way I was attempting to learn was at fault and Rosetta Stone offers a great and logical alternative. Some people complain about Rosetta Stone not making you a master in the language it is teaching you but it is not supposed to. It gets you to where you can communicate well in that language and if you want to continue learning you can pick up a secondary school book of that language to get your grammar really squared away. I found Russian Rosetta Stone to be as good as the French, which is to say very good, fun and easy to use. After using my friend's I plan to buy it sometime next month. As for the first reviewer that is a completely ridiculous expectation of the software, and a completely ridiculous reason to give a product a poor rating and that review should be taken down in my opinion.

Rosetta Stone is a good product for building vocabulary and even helping with pronunciation, but you won't get fluency from it. I don't think it's worth the price honestly. If you can get it for free, or if you have the money to spend on it, then it's a nice tool to add to your arsenal. But I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this product because it's just not enough by itself if you want to truly master a language. I think this is good for beginners, but once you reach the intermediate level you will need more than Rosetta Stone.

If you can't afford the Rosetta Stone products, then stick to the cheaper programs while watching movies, and listening to music and you'll get a much greater exposure to the language than Rosetta Stone will give you.

The software is terribly buggy and unreliable. Had to send one disk back because the surface had bubbles and had to pay for the shipping cost. The software still won't run properly despite installation attempts on multiple computers and both Windows and Mac operating systems. For the price, the build quality is inexcusably shoddy.
