I am an intermediate spanish student with a score of 3/3 on the Defense Language profieciency test (DLPT V). I am using Rosetta Stone to retain my proficiency pay.

Rosetta Stone version 3 is the best product on the market for drilling spanish. It makes doing spanish drills almost seem like a game. My teenage daughter studied nine hours on rosetta stone - including four hours at one stretch - a personal record of studying anything for her!

Version 3 is vastly improved over version two. I would recommend upgrading to anyone with verson 2. Version three has better progress tracking. Version 2 was a top competitor amoung other language products on the market -version three makes Rosetta Stone the best by far.

I do not recommend this product as a stand alone solution to learning a new language. After a student has completed a spanish 101 / 102 course, or in conjunction with, this product will take the student to new levels of proficiency. By itself you will be confused of why you are learning items by rote.

As a high intermediate spanish student, I am learning, or relearning, new items with every lesson, even in level 1.

The only con with the product is the marketing of the product as the method to learn a language is like a child learns. This is done through repetition, correction, and visually. This is deceptive as children have higher capacities than adults to learn new languages. As adults we need explanations and rules that relate to our language to allow us to take an already ingrained skill set and apply it to a new lanquage. If you are a visual learner, this product may work for you as a stand alone program. If you learn best with written instructions, you definetly need an introductory spanish course.

Rosetta Stone is an excellent product. I have used other language learning products and Rosetta Stone is the best by far. It moves quickly and builds upon itself in a logical manner. I recommend it to anyone who asks.

I have been using Rosetta Stone now for over two years. I beleive its a great product to give you a good base in learning another language, As a stand alone tool,Rosetta Stone in my opinion,is not going to "teach" you another language........

Not Without total immersion in the language at some point in your studies...just my humble non qualified opinion.

I'm a French teacher and decided to teach myself Spanish. RS is just amazingly easy to use and to follow. It sticks to you. After a month, I've been basically done with the two first levels (I'm so motivated that I do something like 3 to 4 hours of Spanish each day (including the audio cds for the car...)
