I have an Acer Aspire H342 server running Windows Home Server v.1. I can confirm that not only does this card work on this home server, but it was very easy to install and setup, and performs admirably.

I perform monthly backups of the files on my server to an external 3TB hard drive. Unfortunately the hard drive doesn't have an Ethernet port which would make the process fast and simple. However, it does have a USB 3.0 port. The Aspire H342 on the other hand doesn't have this. Performing the backups using the server's USB 2.0 ports typically took between 24 and 30 or so hours. Having added this USB 3.0 card to the server's empty PCIe slot, my backups are now completing in around 8 or so hours! I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

For those who also own an Acer Aspire H342, as you know, you will need to do a remote desktop connection to the server and install the included drivers as an Administrator. I found the easiest way was to simply insert the disk into you client PC, browse to the CD drive, and copy the RC-505 folder to the server's "Software" share (which is where the server connector software and stuff is also located), then browse to that folder in RDP and simply run the .exe file within. The drivers will install in a minute or two and you will be good to go!

First day today:
Install the card apply the power. Install drivers.

Tried to copy more than 200 gb different files to a segate usb 3.0 device and the speed with the new card is of 36mb/sec .... It also lags the pc, meaning everytime I copied a file over a usb HDD using the the card my mouse movement is not smooth it stops somes times and then it appears at the supoosed position.

PC specs quad core proc , 6 gb ram, evga mobo nforce. win 7 64 bits, evga gtx video card.

Any ideas/help ....?

Update 3

Well after getting in contact again with customer service they sent a new one.

Seems the issue is gone.

Will change review to 3 stars. The card does its work, if you review around not only here you will find tons of complains about they get a faulty card.

Great support they have.

The card is priced right and very easy to install. The computer needs an available power plug in order to power accessories but for accessories that have their own power supply no power plug is needed. Data transfer through the card's ports matches the transfers form the integrated usb 3.0 ports on the computer. No problems maintaining connectivity.

I had no idea how much faster a USB 3.0 was going to be than my old 2.0. Wow. It saves about 30 minutes when I back up my computer.

I've got an aging Windows 7 system with only USB 2.0 ports and lived with slow transfers to my USB 3.0 stick for the past few months. We're talking approximately 20MB/sec here. Upgrading to this card was a no brainer. It now allows transfers to my USB 3.0 flash drive easily 4 - 5 times the speed of USB 2.0. This is the single largest time-saving upgrade I've made to my system.

Pros: Tiny card. Incredible speed difference over USB 2.0. Works with all USB 3.0 peripherals I've thrown at it (scanner, USB flash drive, external harddrive). Minimal driver hassle with Windows 7. Worked on first install attempt.

Cons: Only two ports. Requires connection to a 5V power supply.

Bottom line: If you're stuck with USB 2.0 on your PC and have USB 3.0 peripherals, this is a must have upgrade. For less than one Jackson, I've saved untold hours in transferring large files to my USB 3.0 drives.

Not as pictured, does not have a standard 4 pin molex power connector on the card, requires a small 4 pin power connector, like a floppy drive requires. I was able to cobble together a power connector by cutting the power connector off of an old power supply that I had in storage. Also there is a small CD between the cardboard in the packaging, and I was able to install the drivers into Windows 7 64-Bit. Seems to be working well so far. I recommend you put that small drivers CD into a safe location (I put mine in the bottom of the computer case), because otherwise you would have trouble getting this card to work.

I wrote some bad stuff re this product because it wasn't exactly what I'd ordered. Then I saw it was sold extensively. I took the bad stuff down - but I still had my doubts. So tried to install the card - no Windows 7 drivers; Vista drivers not compatible with W7, installation program cannot see the card. BTW I would classify myself as very technical - I do it for a living. Bottom line is that this USB 3.0 card is an improper (can I say "fraudulent" or will that get me in trouble?) substitute for a Rosewill USB RC-505 3.0 card. I did send info to the vendor, iDEAL4U. It's the weekend so I haven't heard back. If I don't get some satisfaction on Monday, I will crush this POS in my vice!
