There were no reviews on this card reader when I first took a look at it, so I almost didn't get it not knowing what it might be like. However, I was attracted by the aluminum body it stated it had in the specs. There were a couple of others I was mulling over, but both stated that they had flimsy or light-weight plastic construction. In addition, this was cheaper than the other two. Anyway, I took a chance and bought it paying a little over $17 with shipping. I was not at all disappointed. Not only is this reader small, compact and well made but it comes with a sturdy aluminum body and sturdy construction. The device is small and compact at about a 0.5" H X 3.25" L X 1.5" W, so it is easy to carry around from you in a shirt pocket or otherwise. Slots are clearly labeled and there is no built-in (very short) USB cable like the two other card readers I was looking at stated that they came with. Instead, this device comes with a separate (over 2' long) USB-mini-to-standard-USB cable that hooks right into the device's mini-USB connection and to your computer's standard USB 2.0 connection.

The device was immediately recognized by my Windows 7 operating system. Based on what I saw on the packaging, it works with many other operating systems also. I tried SD, SDHC, CompactFlash cards and all read just fine. It supports numerous card formats (at least 74 from what the user manual states). I even tested the ability to read from multiple cards simultaneously and that works also (unlike one of the two other card readers I was considering). In addition the sturdy construction, makes it much more durable than other comparable card readers (made of flimsy/plastic construction). I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a quality, durable card reader!

I value Amazon reviews when researching products. After an impulse buy of a Targus SD card reader at WalMart ($8) that my Windows 7 system would not recognize in any form, I was poking around reviews of the myriad memory card readers available on Amazon. Nothing jumped out as an obvious choice, so I was surfing deeper and came across this Rosewill reader. It claimed SDXC compatibility which I wanted, and the sole review struck a chord with me.

I purchased the reader through Amazon and it has turned out to be one of those few products that exceeds every expectation. Windows 7 recognized the presence of the reader without so much as blinking - absolutely no installation considerations. I tested two SD cards, a 32Mb card from a Canon camera and a 16Gb SDHC card from a Nikon. Both cards read immediately and flawlessly.

Being tired of $8 card readers in plastic housings that creak when you handle them, the Rosewill's compact aluminum case with its attractive brushed gunmetal finish was a thing of simple beauty. Beautiful for an engineer that is, with the possible exception of the Rosewill logo in flowery script.

This card reader is an outstanding product and worth more than they charge for it. Superb!

Worked fine the first time I plugged it in. Read the card without having too install anything on my computer (running Windows 7). However, that was the only time it ran. When I unplugged it, something came loose inside. As it turns out, the port where the USB cord plugs in snapped off inside. This is now junk to me. I found a different way to get my photos from my SD Card to my computer.

Compact unit, works great with my USB hub. Since it's external, I can use it with any of my computers and otherwise.

It uses a min--USB (the trapezoidal looking one) to full USB cable to connect. You can fit lots of cards in here, I guess, but I only use the SD and microSD slots. Both fit great. The unit is very lightweight and has worked every time. Side benefit: it works with my tablet, which also has a full USB input. I imagine with the right cord, this would be true of any tablet, but your mileage may vary.

If I had a complaint, it would be that the LED light is quite bright. Seems pretty minor, really, and depends on your useage. I just happen to have mine within my line of sight, so I leave it unplugged when not in use. Otherwise, great unit at a good price. It's a pretty simple device, really, as it should be.

This is an amazing card reader. It is compact and lightweight, but its metallic design still feels sturdy enough to last for a long time. It supports 6 families of cards: MS, SD, Extreme Digital, Micro SD, and CF. The CF slot apparently also supports CFII.

It manages to put all of this in a very compact package. All of the slots are close together and the CF slot has been moved to the back to further save space.

I am not sure of the maximum read/write speed, but I have used it to transfer many large raw image files from a DSLR, and this reader seems to keep up with the UHS-I card I use.

I have yet to have this reader jump through any hoops (corrupted cards, multiple cards at once, USB 1.1/3.0 port), and I will update this review if I run into any problems then.
