5.0 out of 5 stars Can't find Rosie clothes
One of the most ground-breaking designs in doll-making. A more "true-to-life" doll with realistic proportions! What a great idea. But, much as in life, this "real-size" Rosie faces the same problems that most "real-size" or "generous-size" women face---- Barbie's clothes JUST DON'T FIT!!! Poor Rosie is doomed to wear that...

This doll is too skinny. Rosie O'Donnell is much more plump than this doll portrays, and is therefore an unrealistic doll as well as not worth the money. Avoid this doll like the plague; wait 'till Bandai makes a fat Rosie O'Donnell doll. However, the head in proportion to the body is well done on this doll; her head is QUITE large.

But, much as in life, this "real-size" Rosie faces the same problems that most "real-size" or "generous-size" women face---- Barbie's clothes JUST DON'T FIT!!! Poor Rosie is doomed to wear that polyester red pantsuit because noone made "real-size" clothing and accessories for Rosie! Poor little doll!

But still, Way to go on the design!

I got this doll this Christmas and was amazed. For once Mattel made a doll that didn't have a micro-scopic waist and bulging bust. Not only will you have fun with this, you can actually relate to it. Sure, I'm only 11, but I'm mature enough to know realistic when I see it. Rosie is one of my role models and this is one doll I know you'll love.

5.0 out of 5 stars great idea!, September 29, 2000

Mattel had a great idea with this Rosie doll. I wish they would make some more dolls with this kind of figure, as well as the more 'glamourous' ones. Now that it is on sale, it is a definite 'must-buy' for young girls. Two main quibbles -- the doll's clothes are AWFUL. And she is sewn into them. I sew, so I cut her out of them and got to work -- she looks nice in a lot of different things, especially (interestingly) period costumes. If you can't sew, you can put her into some of the more unisex Ken shorts and shirts. Also, the dolls hair is not great -- there is some kind of hairspray or something on it which is really stiff and not conducive to hairplay. And little girls usually like to comb doll's hair! Next time Mattel makes a doll so differnt in size from Barbie, they should think of wardrobe and hair -- it is especially important in the case of a larger doll, I think since we don't want to send a message that bigger people have to wear ugly clothes. But still, it is a great doll and I recommend. I am waiting for the Emme doll next!

This is terrible. It might have been a good idea, but if I were Rosie O'Donnell, I'd sue! This is a Barbie head on a Ken body. If you don't believe me, buy it and undress it. They did a decent job of capturing the likeness, but come on people, this thing is dreadful! A word to Mattel, if you're going to make a heavier-set female doll, at least give it a female body!

Well, it's about time. Here's a doll -- and a Barbie, to boot -- who actually looks like a HUMAN WOMAN!

This is absolutely GROUND BREAKING, and we need more like it. Thank you, Mattel!

I JUST RECIVED THE ROSIE DOLL AND I BELIVE THAT SHE IS EVEN BETTER LOOKING THEN BARBIE. I ALSO LIKE HOW SHE IS MORE A REAL LOOKING TRUE TO LIFE DOLL. AND MOST OF ALL THAT $5.00 OF WHAT YOU PAY FOR THE DOLL WILL GO TO HER CHARITY FOR KIDS.

4.0 out of 5 stars from a barely 22 yr old child, January 8, 2001

rosie is phat! (and i mean that in a good way) when i first saw her in the store i showed my sister and we both were estatic. i'm a little disappointed that she didn't have a change of clothes, a suit or something! but for the most part she a true pick for the new millenium. and did U know her box that she comes in opens up to become her talk show stage on the back. so dont throw it away and enjoy!

I'm sure Rosie has joined other feminists to criticizing Mattel for giving the Barbie doll such un-realistic proportions. Yet here the manufacturers of her doll, no doubt approved by her, have obviously felt free to disregard her actual hefty proportions to make a more commercially viable product. If Barbie is horrible for unrealistically portraying a woman's body, isn't this doll just as bad for unrealistically portraying Rosie's body?

What a poor message to send young girls when even a purported crusader for "body-acceptance" puts forward a false image of her own figure just to make a few more bucks.
