As much as I love Catherine Cookson's works, Rosie of the River was probably the worst one of the 80 or so I've read. The setting is too modern. The characters are poorly developed. Some of the scenes didn't make any sense. If I didn't know better I would swear that she didn't even write this book! Actually, she may not have written the completed work, as it was published after her death. Of all of her books, this one just isn't a good read!
