Product Description

Amazon.com Review

One of Rösle's superb kitchen utensils, this 5-1/2-inch fine-mesh strainer is ideal for filtering seeds, skins, fibers, and lumps out of sauces and gravies, sifting flour, and dusting pastries with sugar, cocoa, or cinnamon. It's 12 inches long overall and has a 1.7-cup capacity. Like all Rösle Open Kitchen components, tools, and utensils, the strainer--including mesh--is made of 18/10 stainless steel for rustproof beauty and long-lasting durability. The rim has a bright mirror finish while the wire handles, one long and the other opposite for support, have a brushed finish. The support handle is bent so it can rest securely on the edge of a pan or bowl. A hanging loop on the long handle permits the strainer to be conveniently stored on a hook in Rösle's Open Kitchen system of basic rails and Gridwalls or hung on any hook or peg. All Rösle products are dishwasher-safe, and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Medium sized / fine mesh strainer, May 25, 2011

This review is from: Rosle 5.5-Inch Strainer, Fine Mesh (Kitchen)
This is just a nice all-around overall medium sized strainer which we use often use as a mini colander. Many this size have shallower mesh sections which in my mind aford very little capacity for straining anything other than liquids. The mesh is not the super fine material that practically strains things down to the smallest partical. The rim is wide and sloped inward which is ok since it seems to help focus attention on pouring into the center. Both the front and rear handles are Flat and wide which provide excellent stability when laying it on a pan rim. I like the main handle to be flat, as this one is, to provide leverage for twisting. I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and the welds where the handles attach to the strainer rim appear substantial. Only time will tell how long anything lasts but this product projects a superior first impression.

I bought this to strain ice cream bases. The result was excellent and worth all the time. Why stick with not-so-fine mesh and whine when you think you did not get all the 'accidentally scrambled' yolks?

The description clearly states that this item is made in Germany. However it is cheaply made in China
