Nicholas Till is a writer who grasps the fact that every artist's work is a product of his origins and his time in history.This Rossini's biography, does not discuss the musical structure of Rossini's operas and music,but it relates his work to his historical time, namely the first two thirds of the 19Th cenury. Mr. Till does not pass judgemen on Rossini the man or his music and he meets the title of the book: Rossini His Life And Time. The reader will come out well informed. The book has also great pictures of people and places which were connected with the composer. This book is well written, easy to read and very informative and tries to be as objective as possible.
