5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, on DVD!, July 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Rossini - Il barbiere di Siviglia / Ferro (cond.), Bartoli, Quilico, Schwetzingen Festival 1988 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A good, solid, fun production (I have it on VHS, which no longer seems to be available). Finally, on DVD! Here the as-yet-undiscovered Cecilia Bartoli was at 95% of her future vocal powers (pretty darn good already!) but 100% participating in this joyous romp.

This production doesn't have the drawbacks of the other ones which seem to be available: no potentially distracting stage business like the version with (the also very skilled) Jennifer Larmore, and not dated like the Abbado/Ponnelle version. Not likely to disappoint.
