This set includes live recordings of symphonies 4 and 15, as well as some fragments, from a series of Shostakovich concerts in 1998. One of the 'fragments' is a world premier recording, and there is a 3rd cd containing a 2002 interview of Rostropovich. The booklet, as is usual with Andante releases, is informative with high quality printing and photos. As to the symphonies themselves, these performances aren't 'definitive'
but are nevertheless very good, despite the somewhat dry acoustics of the Barbican. Well worth owning.
